Just 24 hours after drug trafficking through a courier company and the arrest of a 35-year-old man, in Paphos, YKAN located and arrested a second person who attempted to receive drugs by mail. He is a 27-year-old man from Russia who was also found to be staying illegally in Cyprus.
The YKAN was informed by the competent officers of the Post Office and Customs that a parcel with about half a kilo of cannabis arrived and addressed to a Russian resident of Pafos. An operation was organized and when the 27-year-old showed up at the Paphos Post Office to pick it up, YKAN police officers arrested him. The foreigner attempted to flee, but was stopped soon after and arrested.
Investigations into the conditions under which the drugs were shipped and the attempted distribution of the drugs to the Cypriot market are being investigated.
