Dangerous product has been released on the market of Cyprus. The Department of Labour Inspection of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance informs employers, self-employed persons and consumers that the product shown here (cutting disc) is dangerous.
Similar types of dangerous products have been detected in the European Union and their details have been registered in the Rapid Information System (RAPEX), for which the TEE has issued relevant announcements, which are available on the Department's website.
The product can be mounted on a portable type angle bearing and therefore could, contrary to its intended use, the angle bearing be used as a hand-held circular saw, without proper protection and protective devices. Consequently, this may cause a "kick" or loss of control of the tool, resulting in injury to the user.
The Department of Labour Inspection has investigated an accident related to a specific cutting disc, diameter: 115mm, brand: iNGCO, under trade name: TCT Saw Blade and model: TSB111555. The product was placed on a corner bearing and used as a circular hand saw without proper protections and protective devices. The worker lost control of the tool, as a result of which he cut off four of his fingers.
The product does not comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive, nor with the European Standard EN 60745-2-3.
The Department of Labour Inspection calls on consumers, in case they own the above product, not to use it and to dispose of it safely. Measures have been taken in cooperation with the importer to withdraw all products from the shelves.
