The entire Council of Neo Chorio submitted its resignation on Tuesday to the District Governor of Pafos, Mary Lambrou, describing as catastrophic the future clustering of their community with the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous.
As stated by the Neo Chorio CP in its resignation letter, the president and its members submit their resignation, initially, because they note, as the whole process of submitting and voting the Bill for the clustering of Municipalities and Communities evolved, they consider that it brutally offends their intelligence and dignity.
They also ignored, as they explain, any suggestions of their communities, which constitute the positions and opinions of their fellow villagers. Above all, however, as they add, they firmly believe "that the clustering of the community of Neo Chorio with the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous will be catastrophic in the future for their community", since they believe that problems and everything that will concern the progress and development of the community will be overlooked or delayed to be dealt with by a Municipal Council that must be effective in dealing with similar issues that will arise in a huge area that will designates the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous.
They also informed the District Officer of Pafos, Mary Lambrou, that the desire of everyone in their community is to remain in the cluster of communities, as provided for in the initial clustering plan.
In statements to journalists, Andreas Christodoulou, president of the community of Neo Chorio, said that "the glass overflowed and therefore we came to bring the collective resignation of the Neo Chorio CP". Unfortunately, he said, "we are neglected and no one understands us." According to him, Neo Chorio has nothing to do with Pomos and Nea Dimmata.
