THREE YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR TRIPLE FATALITY

The curtain fell on one of the most serious cases, which was heard before the Limassol District Court. Judge Christos Papallas today imposed a three-year prison sentence on the 32-year-old accused of the triple fatal accident, which occurred on May 27, 2017, cutting the thread of the lives of the three young people, who were riding in a double-cabin vehicle, Andreas Yiasemis, 32 years old, Dimitris Savvas also 32 years old and Panagiotis Stefanos, 26 years old.

The decision was imposed with the Courtroom being packed with relatives of the two defendants and in the presence of a strong Police Force.

The 32-year-old was found guilty on 14 charges with the most serious being 3 separate charges relating to the offence of causing death by reckless, reckless or dangerous act in violation of Article 210 of the Criminal Code.

Also charged in the case is the father of the 32-year-old who faces two charges, as he allowed his son to drive the vehicle which was immobilized, without insurance and registration.

It is recalled that the triple fatality occurred a few minutes after 5 in the morning when the accused driver violated the red traffic light at the intersection of Synergasmos and Grigori Afxentiou streets in Pano Polemidia, instantly killing all three passengers.

The defendant, a few hours before the provocation of the fatal, was involved in a fight. Specifically while driving at low speed when the taxi driver horned him and then the 32-year-old got out of his car and hit him in the face and head.

The Limassol District Court had sentenced him to 6 months in prison for the beating, as he was found guilty of assault by causing actual bodily harm and insulting the taxi driver. The judicial process lasted for a long time.
