MAJOR ROAD WORKS


 

As part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the coastal road Larnaca - Dekelia Phase C", from January 30, 2023 and for the next three months, from the roundabout of the Marine Club to the junction with Pyla, works will be carried out next to the boundaries of road and drivers are urged to use caution.

On the Larnaca-Nicosia, Larnaca-Agia Napa and Larnaca-Kofinou motorways, in the Larnaca District, in the period 23/2/2023 – 28/4/2023, every day, except Sundays and holidays, between the hours of 08:00 – 15:00 , there will be grass cutting and waste collection from the grounds. No part of the roads will be closed during the works. The works will be carried out on the footings of the roads with appropriate markings.

On the Larnaca-Agia Napa highway, in a section past the Abdelleros exit, on Thursday 30/3/2023, between the hours of 08:00 and 15:00, painting works will be carried out on the dividing railing of the highway. During the work, the right lane will be closed and traffic will be diverted to the left lane.

On the Larnaca - Ayia Napa highway, on Wednesday 29 March 2023 and Friday 31 March 2023, between the hours of 08:00 and 15:00, works will be carried out to install electrical supply on a bridge, by the Administration of the Sovereign Base Area of Dekelia (SBA Dekelea ). During the work, sections of the highway will be closed as follows:

(a) on 29/3/2023, a section of one traffic lane (alternating) of the highway, approximately 50 meters long, will be closed between the exits for Pyla and Xylotymbou, in the direction of Ayia Napa, and

(b) on 31/3/2023, a section of one traffic lane (alternating) of the highway, approximately 50 meters long, will be closed between the 2nd and 3rd exits towards Xylofagos, heading towards Ayia Napa.

On the Nicosia – Limassol highway (A1), from Kalispera lights to the Pentaschinos river, from 28/02/2023 and for a period of six months, from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 09:30 – 13:30, works will be carried out removal, transfer and repositioning of signs on the highway, in the direction of Limassol. During the execution of the works, the left traffic lane on the highway, in the direction of Limassol, will be closed for approximately 100 meters and the traffic will be diverted to the right traffic lane.

The entrance to the Nicosia-Limassol highway, from the Industrial Area of Idali, will be closed from Friday 3/3/2023, from 09:00 in the morning and for a period of two months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Ring Road Phase A1. In particular, the entrance from the Idalio Industrial Road to the existing Nicosia – Limassol highway in the direction of Limassol will be closed and the traffic from the Idalio Industrial Road to the Nicosia – Limassol highway in the direction of Limassol will be channelled through the Kotsiatis junction (Solomos Plantations ). Also, during the above works, on the same day, Friday 3/3/2023, from 09:00 in the morning until 14:00 in the afternoon of the same day, works will be carried out to shift the traffic of the highway Nicosia – Limassol which takes place in the two left-hand traffic lanes (left and middle) and which will be shifted to the two right-hand traffic lanes (middle and right) for a period of two months in order to complete the works.

In Nicosia, from Thursday 23/3/2023 until Thursday 30/3/2023, from 21:00 evening until 05:00 the next morning, pavement repair work will be carried out in the following areas:

Limassol Avenue (Good evening lights with RIK lights), 23/03/2023

Stasinou Avenue (despite the KOLOKASSI parking lot) in Nicosia, 27/3/2023

Griva Digeni Avenue (in front of Kykkou B' Gymnasium) in Nicosia 3/28/2023

Archbishop Makarios Avenue (despite the lights of the Agios Eleftherios neighbourhood) in Latsia, 29/3/2023 – 30/3/2023

During the works, one lane of the road will be partially closed (100 metres each way) and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using stop & go and/or temporary traffic lights.

In the province of Nicosia, on the Nicosia-Troodos road, in the areas of Akaki and Peristerona, in the period 13/2/2023 – 12/5/2023, between the hours 08:30 – 15:00, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, will be held replacement works of the metal safety parapets on the Akakiou and Peristeronas bridges. During the works, one lane will be closed for sections of approximately 100 meters at a time and traffic will be diverted to the other lane with temporary traffic lights.

In Tseri, in the period 6/3/2023 – 26/5/2023, within the framework of the "Road within Tseri" Project, the third phase of the works is to be implemented. Specifically, with opening of a section of Analionta Street, the following streets will be completely closed:

– Theodosis Pieridis from the junction with Tevkrou Anthia to the junction with Protomagias (Agios Andronikos Church),

– Tevkrou Anthia from the confluence with Theodosis Pieridis to the confluence with Amathustos, and

– Sotiris Papalazarou from the junction with Tevkrou Anthia to the backyard of the 2nd Primary School

During the above phase, drivers heading from Nicosia towards Analionta and Marki are requested to use Protomagias street and then Analionta street. Drivers from Nicosia heading towards the Halepiana area are requested to use Filias, Amathustos and Tevkrou Anthia streets. Drivers heading from Analionta to Nicosia should use Posidonos, Andrea Kesta and Makariou streets. For all the above traffic detours there will be appropriate temporary markings which drivers should follow.

In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometers. It also includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiaulis, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of approximately 600 meters, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools included in the project.  The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related works. Depending on each phase of the works, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the works to be performed as well as the corresponding traffic regulations.

In Larnaca, in the section of Artemis Avenue from its junction with Tassou Mitsopoulos Street to the roundabout of the old Larnaca Airport, on Thursday 30 March 2023, from 07:00 to 15:00, local repair work will be carried out asphalt pavement. During the works, one lane of the road from the junction to the roundabout will be partially closed (100 meters each way) and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

Also in Larnaca, on Monday 3 April 2023, from 08:30 to 15:00, on Monday 3 April 2023, from 08:30 to 15:00, local works will be carried out asphalt pavement repairs. During the works, traffic will be diverted to secondary roads using appropriate signage.

In Aradippou, in the period 23/3/2023 – 21/4/2023, every day except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:00 – 13:00, in parts of the Avenues Eleftherias, Australasia, Acropolis, Hellas and Griva Digeni, maintenance work is being carried out on the greenery of the central islands, by the Municipality of Aradippou. During the works, the tangential traffic lane will be partially closed from both directions for a length of 100-200m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

On the Larnaca-Dekelia coastal road, at a point opposite the Larnaca Maritime Club and in both directions of the road, in the period 10/2/2023 – 10/6/2023, works will be carried out as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Coastal Road" Project Larnaca - Dekelia Phase C". Traffic will be diverted to Navarinou Street for about 650m.

In Livadia, in sections of Andrea Stylianou, Petraki Kyprianou and Arch. Makariou Streets, from the roundabout of Livadia to the junction with Tevkrou Anthia Street, on Friday 31 March 2023, from 08:00 to 15:00, local repair work will be carried out on the asphalt pavement. During the works, one traffic lane of Livadia roads will be partially closed (100 meters each way) and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane, using STOP & GO signs and/or temporary traffic lights.

In the Municipality of Limassol, works will be carried out on Oratiou Street, as part of the Great Flood Control Project in the centre of Limassol. The work is expected to last until Thursday, April 13, 2023. During the works, the road will be closed and the public is asked to be careful and comply with the temporary road markings.

Also in Limassol and within the framework of the Great Flood Protection Project of the Center of Limassol, work will be carried out on Stratigou Makrygianni street from its junction with Dimostheni Mitsis and Voreiu Epirou streets. The works are expected to last until Friday 31 March 2023. During the works the road will be closed and the public is urged to use caution and obey the temporary road markings.

Also within the framework of the Major Flood Protection Project of the Centre of Limassol, works will be carried out on Leontiou Machira Street from its junction with Dorou Loizou Street to Gladstonos Street. The work is expected to last until Friday, May 5, 2023.

In Germasogeia, the work on the Project "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A" continues as normal. In the period from 16/2/2023 to 16/5/2023, the following arrangements will apply, in the context of the next phase of the partial execution of the project:

(a) A 100m long section will be delivered, with two-way traffic and as a temporary dead end. approximately Milos Street, east of the new roundabout at the junction of M. Theodorakis Avenue with Agia Paraskevi and Milos Streets.

(b) Construction works will be carried out on the 100m section of Milos Street. approximately west of its junction with Potamias Street which will be closed to traffic. During the works, westbound Potamias Street traffic will be diverted through Apollonia Streets and Mikis Theodorakis Avenue (new bypass road).

(c) The rest of the traffic arrangements remain as they are.

While the work on the Project "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A" continues normally, in the context of the next phase, in the period 16/3/2023 - 20/6/2023, the following traffic arrangements will apply:

(a) The eastern side of Agia Paraskevi Street from its junction with Patmos Street, to the new roundabout beyond Mylou Street, will be opened to traffic, with two-way traffic. The west side will be closed for construction work.

(b) Part of Patmos Street from its junction with Agia Paraskevi Street to the new temporary small roundabout beyond the "Green Forest" nursery, will operate as a one-way road with a permitted direction towards the new temporary small roundabout. The remaining part of Patmos Street will operate with two-way traffic and turns into a dead end. Vehicle traffic from the Panioti area to Germasogeia will take place via Atreidon Street, the Germasogeia Roundabout, the Limassol Road Bypass, Agia Paraskevi Street and M. Theodorakis Avenue (New Germasogeia Bypass Road). Traffic from Germasogeia to the Panioti area will proceed as normal.

(c) The remaining traffic regulations remain as they are.

In the district of Limassol, the Arakapa-Sykopetras road will remain closed until April 30, 2023, around the clock, due to the extension of the execution of improvement works. The public can use the Sykopetras - Agios Konstantinos road.

In Paphos, on the Kathika-Prodromi road (Agiou Ypatiou street), at the two points of its junction with Agnoumena street, beyond the village of Drouseia, for 3 km. approximately, road works will be carried out in the period 12/1/2023 – 12/6/2023. During the works, access to and from Prodromi will be from Agnoumena Street (via Drouseia).

In the Vassilikos area, the eastern road connecting the old Nicosia – Limassol road with the Vassilikos port, which was closed since 21/1/2020, will remain closed to the traffic police for another 3 months, until the end of May, 2023 , as part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vassilikos Energy Center. During the works, traffic from and to Vassiliko will be diverted to the corresponding west road (E107), through Mari. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians, on adjacent roads and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.

On the road Zygi - Vassiliko - Mari, in the period from 15/3/2023 to 15/5/2023, a section of the road 450m long. approximately, it will be closed to traffic, heading from Vasilikos Port to Mari, from the fuel storage terminal of the VTTV company to the terminal of the Petrolina company despite the new roundabout that has been built, for the purposes of works carried out in the context of the construction of Phase A of the Vassilikos Energy Centre Road Network. During the works, the traffic in the direction of Zygi - Vassiliko - Mari will be served by a bypass road inside the Energy Centre. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians, on adjacent roads and properties will take place with the corresponding local arrangements.

Also as part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Vassilikos Energy Centre Road Network, in Mari, from March 23, 2023, construction works will be carried out on the road between the EAC substation and the Vassilikos River in Mari, north of the cement plant facilities sewage system and one lane will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be regulated with traffic lights. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians, on adjacent roads and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.
