INTERVENTION ON FUEL PRICES - MEETING THURSDAY

 Filenews 1 March 2023

With immediate actions, the President of the Committee on Finance of the Parliament, Christiana Erotokritou in consultation with the President of the House, Annita, Demetriou convene an extraordinary meeting tomorrow at 3 p.m. of the Finance Committee and immediately afterwards at 4 plenary, in order for the Parliament to vote on a law the extension of the reduced consumption tax rates on fuel until the end of April.

As she characteristically stated to CyBC, Mrs. Erotokritou was not willing to wait until the next ordinary Plenary session of the Parliament on March 9 and burden the Cypriot consumer with the increase in the price of fuel. "Not a cent more should the Cypriot consumer pay," she said.

It is noted that the change in the baton of the Presidency of the Republic put in second place the extension of the application of the reduced consumption tax on fuel, with the result that from today consumers will have to pay petroleum products with a more expensive consumption tax. Specifically, from today the excise tax on gasoline will increase by 7 cents per litre, on diesel by 8.3 cents and on heating oil by 6.4 cents per litre.
