FREE PUBLIC TRANSPORT - 25 MARCH

 Filenews 22 March 2023

On the occasion of the "Earth Hour", which this year has been set on Saturday, March 25, all public transport, both urban and interurban, will be provided to all citizens free of charge, 24 hours a day.

According to the Commissioner for the Environment, Dr Maria Panayiotou, the decision comes on the initiative of the Commissioner for the Environment, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and the Minister, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis, but also with the public passenger transport companies.

In particular, private companies, in the context of their corporate social responsibility and wanting to send their own message against climate change, embraced this initiative and with their move call on all citizens to "leave the car and take the bus".

The Commissioner for the Environment expresses her satisfaction and thanks both to the Minister of Transport and the officers of the Ministry as well as to the companies of Public Passenger Transport, since this initiative was implemented due to their immediate and cordial response.

"Earth Hour" invites us all to change our daily routine. If we dedicate only 60 minutes, we contribute to the effort to obtain a "Healthy Planet". So let's change our routine and on March 25th "let's leave the car and take the bus".

It is noted that in cooperation with the Press and Information Office, an information campaign will be launched for other environmental actions, all of which will be announced tomorrow, March 23.
