DOUBLE DIGIT SUMMER FLIGHTS TO UAE

Filenews 4 March 2023 - by Adamos Adamou

From seven today, flights from the United Arab Emirates to Larnaca increase to 13 in the summer, raising expectations of increased tourist traffic between the two countries. In fact, while today Larnaca is only connected to Dubai, in a few months it will also be connected to the capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi.

The connection of Abu Dhabi with Larnaca, three times a week since July, was announced by Wizz Air. Earlier, and specifically from April, to the existing seven flights that Emirates currently operates from Dubai to Larnaca will be added three flights also from Dubai to Larnaca, by Cyprus Airways. The ten flights a week from the UAE will take place, as reported, from July, according to what Wizz Air announced on Tuesday, which will connect Larnaca with Abu Dhabi from July 3rd.

The airline announced that tickets for these flights are already available on the airline's wizzair.com and mobile app, with fares starting at EUR 44.99. We note that tourist arrivals from the UAE last year amounted to 21 thousand, the same as they were in 2019. In 2021 they were limited to 11 thousand, due to the pandemic.

In its announcement, the company lists the various attractions of the largest Emirate of the UAE, with which it will connect Larnaca every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with itineraries offered for short getaways and not only. Wizz Air's director of corporate communications, Zsuzsa Trubek, said in relation to the new route that it enriches the company's network in Larnaca with holiday destinations and full-day getaways, offering more opportunities for Cypriot passengers to explore new cities and enjoy their holidays. "At Wizz Air we remain committed to continuing to offer low-fare routes to a wide range of destinations and look forward to welcoming our passengers to our state-of-the-art Airbus aircraft," he said.

We remind you that Wizz Air will also connect Larnaca with Saudi Arabia from this year, with the start expected in April, with the start of flights from Riyadh. Taking advantage of the incentives for new routes of Hermes Airports and the state, the company will then operate flights from two other cities in Saudi Arabia, namely Jeddah and Dammam.
