CRIME ROUND UP

 Filenews 30 March 2023

Handcuffs were passed yesterday by the Police to a 57-year-old owner of a Service Bureau in connection with a case of obtaining a driver's license with false representations and circulation of a false document with 20 foreigners from third countries involved.

An interrogator denies any involvement in the case and gave several allegations which are being investigated. Today he will be taken to Court for an application for his detention.

It is recalled that the case was discovered after an inspection carried out by the person in charge of the Limassol Citizen's Center, which found that from 8/12/22 to 3/3/23, 20 foreigners had applied for the issuance or reissue of a student driving license, to whom the relevant licenses had been given. A review of the applications found that the 20 persons presented Alien's Residence Cards (MUE2), which were, however, forged and falsified. The 16 cases concern the Limassol KEPO and the four the Agros KEPO.

Initially, three persons who are in eight-day detention were arrested and in their testimony they said they paid a sum of money to certain persons, who obtained a driver's license after working as food distributors.
