In the hands of the investigators of the Juvenile Sexual Abuse Investigation Branch of the Police Headquarters, a foreign man, who had been arrested on suspicion of attempting to sexually abuse a 18-year-old schoolgirl after her complaint to the authorities, has been in the hands of the investigators of the Juvenile Sexual Abuse Investigation Branch of the Police Headquarters.
This is a foreign man from Syria, about 30 years old, who was wanted since last Wednesday (15/03) for the shocking case, which took place in the morning of the same day on the main Makarios Avenue. The suspect, after wearing handcuffs, was brought before the Limassol Court on Sunday, which in a closed-door procedure ordered his detention for a period of 8 days.
The suspect appeared in court, visibly altered and without being represented by a lawyer. As "F" is authoritatively informed, the man in question was shaved to avoid being identified by the police authorities, as the photo made the rounds of social media.
The same information states that the minor was called to the Police, who identified the suspect despite the changes he made. Interrogating the suspect gave several allegations which are being investigated. Among other things, he claimed that he met the minor on social media and that they had agreed to meet to have sex.
According to the 15-year-old's complaint, the incident occurred around 7:30 in the morning of March 15 on the busy Makarios Avenue, while she was walking to her school. At some point she realized that she was being followed by an unknown man, who then approached her and suggested that they have sex with her in an erected building. The minor reacted immediately, with the perpetrator continuing to harass her and, speaking Arabic, offered her the sum of €100 in return.
The suspect, according to what the minor reported, allegedly told her not to talk to anyone about what he proposed to her. He also told her that he was looking for a woman to marry and that no matter what happened she wouldn't hurt. The minor was frightened and immediately entered a specific premises in the area in order to protect herself, while the whole incident was heard by a friend of hers with whom she was talking on the phone. The alleged perpetrator fled as he realized that he had been noticed by other persons.

The Paphos Police arrested a 31-year-old man in a case of alleged assault against a police officer but also for attempted theft, malicious damage to a hotel.
According to the Spokesperson of the Paphos ADE and Head of the Paphos ICF, Michalis Nikolaou, on March 19, information was given to the Police that a person was in a specific hotel in the Chlorakas area and was trying to cut copper pipes from the hotel in order to steal.
He was noticed by an employee and fled.
Members of the Paphos ADE went to the area and at 22:15 they spotted the above person hiding in an adjacent field while in the attempt of the members of the force to arrest him he attacked a police officer who managed to arrest and immobilize him.
As it turned out, this is a 31-year-old man who was arrested for the attack on a police officer but also for attempted theft, malicious damage and illegal entry into foreign property.
He was subsequently detained and the examinations are continuing by the Paphos Police.

A renewal of the detention order of the 31-year-old suspect in the death of the 28-year-old in Petra tou Romiou is expected to be requested by the Police tomorrow.
The police are awaiting the conclusion of the second autopsy performed on the body of the 28-year-old Ukrainian, Hara Spiliopoulou Professor of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at the Medical School of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the National Kapodistrian University.
According to the Spokesperson of the Paphos ADE and Head of the Paphos ICF, Michalis Nikolaou, the detention order of the 31-year-old who has been arrested as a suspect in the case expires tomorrow Tuesday. Against him with the current evidence held by the Police said Mr. Nikolaou, premeditated murder is being investigated.
Mr. Nikolaou said that "the Paphos Police is in possession of the official finding of the two forensic experts Angeliki Papetta and the Orthodox Orthodox who speaks of a criminal act." At the moment, he continued, "the Paphos Crime Detection Department is investigating premeditated murder."
In case, Mr. Nikolaou said, that there is no development from the finding of the second autopsy on the body of the 28-year-old carried out by the coroner Hara Spiliopoulou, in the presence of forensic pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodox Orthodox and coroner Marios Matsakis who represented the 31-year-old suspect, the 31-year-old's detention order is expected to be renewed.
The Spokesperson of the Paphos ADE and Head of the ICF Paphos noted that the investigative work has not yet been completed and continues with the receipt of statements from the family and friends of the victim and the suspect and from the persons who had circulated together with the 28-year-old and the 31-year-old the night before the tragic incident. Mr. Nikolaou said that the results of Ms. Spiliopoulou's autopsy will play a catalytic role while upon completion of the examinations the case file will be sent to the Legal Service for instructions.
