1,701 NEW CASES, 5 DEATHS to w/e 9 March

Five new deaths, including a 49-year-old man, due to COVID-19, the Ministry of Health announced for the week of March 3-9. In addition, 1,701 new cases were identified.

Analytically:

  • 5 deaths were announced:
  • Woman, aged 96, who passed away on 02/03/2023
  • Woman, aged 88, who passed away on 04/03/2023
  • Man, aged 84, who passed away on 04/03/2023
  • Man, aged 81, who passed away on 05/03/2023
  • Man, aged 49, who passed away on 07/03/2023
  • Total number of deaths with COVID-19 as the ultimate cause: 1,335.
  • 44 COVID-19 patients are being treated in shsypy hospitals
  • in serious condition (ICU: 3 off ventilator/6 intubated)
  • patients who ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized by intubation due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 59,293 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 1,701 new cases were detected (total cases 652,386).
  • Positivity rate in all tests 2.87%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 1,542 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 141 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 9.14%

Total number of rapid antigen tests:

  • 57,751 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 1,560 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.7%

Private initiative:

  • 1,064 molecular tests were performed, 74 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.95%)
  • 32,131 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,390 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 4.33%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 25,620 rapid antigen tests were performed. 170 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 17,764 rapid tests, 131 positive cases identified (positivity rate 0.74%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 143 rapid antigen tests, no positive cases detected (positivity rate 0%)
  • Secondary Education: 442 rapid tests, no positive cases detected (positivity rate 0%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 4,905 rapid antigen tests were performed, 35 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.71%)
  • Closed facilities: 2,366 rapid antigen tests were performed, new cases were identified (positivity rate 0.17%).
