Affordable flights to Cyprus and Spain, before the end of the decade, can be offered from the, to date, abandoned Manston airport in Kent, which has not been operational for almost 10 years.
According to the Mirror, the airport, which was the base of the Royal Air Force during the World Wars, is under renovation, with the aim of reopening in 2025, as a freight airport. However, as mentioned, negotiations are underway to add passenger flights to the schedule, as of 2028.

The renovation will cost around £500 million and among other things, will include new terminals.
Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air
As noted in the publication, if the investment in the goods sector succeeds, then the way could be opened for passenger routes, to the Netherlands, Spain, Cyprus and Malta.
According to The Sun, the airport's new investors are already in talks with airlines such as Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air.

The airport's owners, RiverOak Strategic Partners, who made the purchase for £14m, will start with five cargo flights a day.
