The Paphos Police proceeded with the arrest of one person in a case of obtaining credit by false representations.

According to the Spokesperson of Paphos ADE and Head of the Paphos ICF, Michalis Nikolaou, last Friday it was reported by the owner of a betting agency that an unknown man visited his agency, playing a bet of 3,000 euros and that after the bet was recorded in the machine, he then pretended to forget his money and that he would go to bring it without doing so.

From the CCTV present at the bookmaker, the 31-year-old was allegedly identified as the person who played a bet without paying the payment amount.

The 31-year-old was called to the Police, charged in writing and released to be summoned later.

Driver for speeding violation, chased by members of the Police in Paphos, who was eventually stopped, charged in writing and released.

According to the Spokesperson of the Paphos ADE and Head of the Paphos ICF, Michalis Nikolaou, on 18.2.23 at 21:45 members of team Z were conducting speed checks on Tombs of the Kings Avenue. As part of the checks they located a vehicle, the driver of which had exceeded the speed limit and the vehicle did not have a registration plate at the front.

A signal was made to stop but he allegedly developed speed in order to escape. He was then pursued and finally stopped on Chlorakas Avenue.

The driver, aged 22, according to police, did not wear a seat belt while the car was declared immobilized. Further in a drug test he was reportedly found positive. The 22-year-old was charged in writing and released.

Meanwhile, as part of a coordinated operation over the last three days, 132 traffic complaints were made, of which 28 concerned driving under the influence of alcohol, 3 were driving their vehicle at excessive speed and one under the influence of drugs.

Police arrested a 41-year-old person on Sunday in connection with an ongoing case of attempted theft of a catalytic converter from a car in Limassol. A second person is sought.

According to the Police, around 21:30 information was received that an unknown person was trying to remove a catalyst from a car parked in an open area and that a second person was waiting for him in a vehicle, nearby.

Immediately members of the Police went to the area, where they spotted a car lying raised, on a hoist hoop, while a person fled, as soon as he noticed the police. It was found that the catalyst had been partially cut off from the vehicle.

Nearby, the car that seems to have been waiting for the perpetrator was located and in which a 41-year-old resident of Limassol was located and arrested. A search of the vehicle identified and seized as evidence various tools and two batteries of portable power tools.

A judicial arrest warrant was issued against the 41-year-old under which he was arrested and detained to facilitate interrogations.

Examinations to identify the second person in connection with the case under investigation are ongoing.
