ANTICIPATED MINISTERIAL PORTFOLIOS FROM 1 MARCH [official announcement awaited]

In the final stretch for the announcements, the composition of the new Council of Ministers of the Christodoulides government is heading, after the last meetings he had with the leaders of the parties that supported his candidacy. There seems to be a pending issue at the Ministry of Justice as Anastasia Papadopoulou, whose name was heard in the previous days, did not lock up, with the appointment of internationalist Anna Koukkidou Prokopiou now prevailing.

Mr. Christodoulides is expected to make announcements within the next few hours.

Ministerial portfolios are expected to be held from 1 March by:

Minister of Foreign Affairs: Mr Konstantinos Kombos

Minister of Finance: Makis Keravnos (former Minister of Finance - Labour in the Tassos Papadopoulos government)

Minister of Interior: Mr Konstantinos Ioannou (former Minister of Health)

Minister of Communications: Mr Alexis Vafiadis

Minister of Labour: Mr Yiannis Panayiotou

Minister of Education: Athina Michailidou

Minister of Health: Mr Popi Kanari

Minister of Agriculture: Mr Petros Xenophonos

The newly elected President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, will give his legal assurance to the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

The special plenary session for the installation ceremony, defined in Article 42 of the Constitution, will take place at 11:30 in the morning in the presence of the outgoing President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades.

The next day, that is, on Wednesday, as announced by the Presidency of the Republic, the process of the confirmation ceremony of the new members of the new Council of Ministers and other officials and the assumption of the portfolio by their predecessors will take place.

The confirmation ceremony will take place in the Presidential Palace's Auditorium at 10 a.m.

During the ceremony, the Director of Etiquette will announce, based on the current ceremonial order, the names of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance, Minister of the Interior, Minister of Defence, Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Minister of Justice and Public Order and Minister of Health.

At the end of the assurance of the new Ministers, the Director of Protocol will announce the names of the Government Spokesman, the Deputy Minister to the President, the Deputy Minister of Shipping to the President, the Deputy Minister of Tourism to the President, the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy to the President, the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare to the President, the Deputy Minister of Culture to the President, the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic, Deputy Government Spokesman and Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic.
