Police on Sunday found two additional packages of cannabis washed up on the beach in Famagusta.
Police spokesman Christos Andreou told the Cyprus News Agency that in the last 10 days a series of packets containing cannabis, have been found at various beach locations.
Police are investigating how these large quantities of drugs ended up on the beach and are examining the possibility that someone may have thrown the packets into the sea to get rid of them, possibly from the north.
Between December 20 and 30 more than 20 kilograms of cannabis washed up, while on Friday alone, three kilos of cannabis were found.
According to CNA this happens frequently enough for police to carry out regular beach patrols.
