MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, on Saturday 21/1/2023, from 06:00 in the morning until 17:00 in the afternoon of the same day, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Ring Motorway, the new exit of the existing Nicosia - Limassol motorway from Nicosia towards the old Nicosia – Limassol road and the Idalio Industrial Area will be closed to traffic. During the works, traffic towards the Idalio Industrial Area will be conducted through the Latsia Industrial Area exit and the old Nicosia – Limassol roads.

Also, on the Nicosia-Limassol highway, on Saturday 21/1/2023, between the hours of 06:30 – 9:00, the right traffic lane in the direction of Limassol, by the Agia Varvara Interchange, will be closed, since telecommunications works will be carried out.

On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, as of September 03, 2022, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Phase AI perimeter highway, the traffic of the highway, which was conducted in 4 traffic lanes on the east side, was shifted to the west side of the existing highway. The traffic of the existing highway from Limassol to Nicosia and vice versa will be carried out in 2 traffic lanes instead of 3 in a length of 2 km. approximately on the west side of the existing highway. The traffic from the exit of the industrial area of Idalio to the Tseri bypass will be uninterrupted, while the traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia via the highway will not be conducted. Traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the JCC light-controlled junction. Traffic from the highway heading towards Limassol to the Idali industrial area will be conducted through the new exit constructed as part of the Perimeter Project, while traffic from the Idali industrial area to the existing highway heading towards Limassol will be uninterrupted. During the works, traffic on the highway from Nicosia to Limassol and vice versa will be conducted in one lane. The traffic from the Tseri bypass to the existing highway in the direction of Nicosia and from the industrial area of Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will not be carried out at the specified times. It is noted that traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the light-controlled junction near the JCC. The traffic from the industrial area of Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will be conducted from the entrance of Kotsiatis. It is noted that the above arrangement will last for a period of approximately 5 months. The public can be informed about the above planned works, through the website www.traffic4cyprus.org.cy, which provides a cartographic representation of the works and their effects on traffic during their execution.

In Larnaca, on Alexandrou Panagoulis Avenue, during the period 8/12/2022 – 31/1/2023, daily including weekends and holidays, works will be carried out to install a network of storm drains, by the Larnaca Sewerage Council. During the above period, a section of Alexandrou Panagouli Avenue, from its junction with the light-controlled junction with Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to its junction with Kanellopoulou Street, in the direction of Livadia, will be closed and traffic will be diverted through adjacent roads.

Also, as part of the construction works of Phase A of the Road Network of the Vassilikos Energy Centre, in the period 16/1/2023 – 15/3/2023, a section of the road Zygi – Vassiliko – Mari, 450m long. approximately will be closed to traffic for vehicles heading from Port of Vassilikos to Mari, from the fuel storage terminal of the VTTV company to the terminal of the Petrolina company, by the new roundabout that has been constructed. During the execution of the works, the traffic in the direction of Zygi - Vassiliko - Mari will be served by a bypass road inside the Energy Center. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians on adjacent roads and properties will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.

In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometres. Includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiauli, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of approximately 600 metres, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools included in the project.  The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related works. Depending on each phase of the works, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the works to be performed as well as the corresponding traffic regulations.

Also in Tseri, from Tuesday, 03/01/2023 and for a period of two months, on Tseri Avenue of the Municipality of Tseri, in the section from its junction with Evias Street to its junction with Salaminos Street (up to Iero Church of Saints Constantine and Helen), renovation works will be carried out as part of the implementation of the project "Road within Tseri". During this phase, in the aforementioned section, all traffic lanes will be closed. Drivers heading towards Tseri are urged to use Evia, Archiepiskopou Kyprianou, Thermopylon, Pentadaktilo, V. Michaelidis and Salaminos streets. Drivers heading towards Nicosia are urged to use Salaminos, Pentadaktilo, Kouriou, Idaliou, Archiepiskopou Kyprianou and Evia streets following the temporary markings.

On the coastal road of Larnaca-Dekeleia, in Larnaca, from the roundabout of the Marine Club and at a length of 800m. approximately, as part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C", from 04/10/2022 and for a period of approximately five months, works will be carried out next to the road boundaries and drivers are urged to be cautious.

In Limassol, as part of the Great Flood Protection Project of Greater Limassol, from Monday 9 January to Wednesday 25 January 2023, work will be carried out on the section of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue between its junctions with Nikos Pattichis and Theodoros Potamianos Streets. During the works, the northern lanes of the above section will be closed and traffic from west to east will be through Theodoros Potamianos, Apostolos Varnavas streets and the highway.

In Germasogeia, construction work on the Germasogeia bypass road continues as normal. From Sunday, August 7, 2022, the construction work of the next phase of the Project will be carried out, which will last 6 months and includes, among other things, the reconstruction/upgrading of a 400m long section of the road on Agia Paraskevi Street. up to the southern part of the Germasogeia roundabout, the reconstruction of Mylou Street and the construction of a roundabout at the junction of the new Mikis Theodorakis Avenue with Agia Paraskevi and Milos Streets. During the construction work of this phase the following traffic arrangements will apply:

(a) The junction of Agia Paraskevi and Mylos Streets will be closed and the section of Agia Paraskevi Street south of Tellyrias Street will temporarily operate as a cul-de-sac. Traffic from/to Germasogeia and from/to Limassol will take place via the new bypass road and its connections with Agia Paraskevi street from Isabella, Patron and Tellyria streets. The access of Agia Paraskevi street towards Limassol is expected to be handed over to traffic around the end of October 2022.

  (b) Mylou Street will be closed and its eastern section, from its junction with Potamias Street, will temporarily function as a dead-end street to serve merchants and residents.

(c) Traffic from/to Muttayaka will be able to be done via Potamias Street (east) or via the new bypass road and Agios Georgios Street.

In Paphos, in the Geroskipou area, from Tuesday, April 5, 2022, until Monday, March 6, 2023, the connecting road B6 - A6 (Limessos - Paphos), will be closed to traffic, due to roundabout construction works on Kinyra Street in Geroskipou. During the works drivers and pedestrians will be able to use a temporary detour that has been constructed for this purpose.

Also in Paphos, on the Kathika-Prodromi road (Agiou Ypatiou street), at the two points of its junction with Agnoumena street, beyond the village of Drouseia, for 3 km. approximately, road works will be carried out in the period 12/1/2023 – 12/6/2023. During the works, access to and from Prodromi will be from Agnoumena Street (via Drouseia).

On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, as part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Vassilikos Energy Center Road Network, the eastern road connecting the old Nicosia-Limassol road with the Vassilikos port, which was closed since 21/1/2020, will remain closed to traffic for another four months, until the end of February, 2023. During the works, all traffic to and from Vassiliko will be diverted to the corresponding westbound road, via Mari. The traffic of vehicles and pedestrians in adjacent streets and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.

In the district of Limassol, the Arakapa - Sykopetras road will remain closed due to the extension of the execution of improvement works, from January 2 until January 31, 2023, around the clock. The public can use the Sykopetras - Agios Konstantinos road.
