Five persons were arrested for a case of participation in a criminal organization after evidence emerged during the investigation of a complaint submitted to the Police, by a man aged 38, for an attack on him, last December, 2022, in the district of Paphos.
Four of the five suspects had been arrested in the previous days, as part of the investigation of the case, which has already been registered before the Paphos District Court for trial, while a fifth suspect was arrested yesterday and detained, to be brought before the Paphos District Court today, for registration of the case against him.
According to the evidence under investigation and the complaint filed on December 31, the 38-year-old complainant, on December 12, himself noticed a car being driven outside his home, in the district of Paphos, while at the same time hearing a gunshot. Checking the area outside his home, he allegedly identified the driver and passenger of the car, men aged 29 and 26 respectively. On the same day, the 38-year-old found his dog dead outside his home, while according to his complaint, two days earlier, on December 10, there had been damage to windows of his residence, which had been shattered.
On December 29, according to the 38-year-old's complaint, while he was in an area of Paphos, four people approached him and attacked him, while also causing damage to his car. Three of the suspects, men aged 42, 28 and 22, were identified by the complainant.
After on December 31, the 38-year-old received two phone calls, from persons he identified as the two suspects aged 26 and 22, who allegedly expressed threats against him, on the same day he made a complaint to the Police.
On January 2, the four suspects, aged 42, 29, 28 and 26, who were detained under court orders for the purpose of investigating the case, were arrested on court warrants. Upon completion of the police examinations, the case was registered for trial by the Paphos District Court. The Court ordered that the four defendants be released, on terms ordered by the Court to ensure their presence at the next hearing.
Yesterday afternoon, the fifth suspect, aged 22, was located and arrested on a court warrant. He was interrogated in writing and detained, to be brought before the Paphos District Court today, where the case against him is expected to be registered for trial.
The case had been investigated in collaboration with the Polis Chrysochous Police Station and the Pegeia Police Station.
