CRIME ROUND UP

According to the Spokesperson of Paphos ADE, Michalis Nikolaou, a 34-year-old shop owner in Paphos complained that a 33-year-old man to whom he rented a shop, abandoned it some days ago.

From an inspection of the store, he found that property that was inside the store and belongs to him was stolen.

The total value of the stolen property amounts to €2,300 and the Police according to Mr. Nikolaou issued an arrest warrant against the tenant who is wanted.

A 37-year-old apartment owner in Chloraka complained that yesterday morning she was alerted by a tenant of a neighboring apartment that some people tried to steal copper pipes from the roof of the apartment building where her apartment is located.

The woman informed the Police, members of which went to the area and began investigations. It appeared that the perpetrators did not manage to steal the copper tubes, but caused damage amounting to about 200 euros.

Further examinations identified a 42-year-old woman as one of the perpetrators of the attempted theft. An arrest warrant was issued against her and she is wanted.

Irritated by the works underway at an apartment complex in Paphos, a 28-year-old man allegedly attacked two workers, pushing one and throwing him from metal scaffolding to the ground.

According to the spokesperson of the Paphos Police Department, Michalis Nikolaou, a relevant complaint was filed by the 63-year-old chief engineer of the company that carries out the works on the apartment complex.

As he mentioned, he and a 38-year-old colleague were on scaffolding at the construction site, when a tenant of an apartment of the complex in question exited the apartment and pushed the metal scaffolding on which the 38-year-old was located, causing him to fall and hit various parts of his body.

The alleged assailant, 28, also damaged a glass sliding door of another apartment and then punched the 63-year-old while he was also holding a knife.

An arrest warrant was issued against the 28-year-old and he is wanted.

The Police arrested a 23-year-old man for illegal possession of explosives yesterday as part of an investigation carried out yesterday afternoon by members of the Famagusta ICF on the basis of a court warrant at the home of a 23-year-old man in the Famagusta district.

During the search they were found in the warehouse of the house, 14 factory firecrackers, 5 improvised firecrackers, 3 bundles of wick, a small amount of explosive material (gunpowder) as well as various paraphernalia for the manufacture of improvised firecrackers.

The 23-year-old was arrested for flagrant offences and taken into custody while the case is being investigated by the Famagusta ICF.
