CRIME ROUND UP

Two persons, a woman and a man, aged 36 and 20, are being arrested after they were found in possession of property for which the two suspects did not provide adequate explanations. This is a number of jewellery and car parts, which is being investigated whether they are the product of theft.

The two suspects were spotted by members of OPE Paphos, moving by car, in an area in Kato Paphos, just before 11.30 last night. Members of the Police stopped them for inspection, during which, in the possession of the 36-year-old, they found a number of jewellery, such as rings, earrings, and a neck chain, as well as a knife, while in the possession of the 20-year-old they found a knife and a small amount, one gram, of crystalline substance, believed to be a methametamine drug.

This was followed by a search of the 20-year-old's vehicle, where a number of car parts were found, as well as a number of burglary tools and a folding bat. The 20-year-old claimed that the car parts belong to him, but did not give a satisfactory explanation for their origin, resulting in the members of the Police proceeding to arrest him, for the offense of illegal possession of property. The 20-year-old was also arrested for the offences of stabbing, possession of an offensive instrument, possession of burglary tools, and possession of drugs.

The 36-year-old was also arrested for the offences of illegal possession of property and stabbing, who also did not give a satisfactory explanation of the origin of the jewellery found in her possession. The 36-year-old and 20-year-old were taken into custody for the purpose of police examinations.

The Paphos ICF and the Paphos Central Police Officer continue the examinations.

An investigation to identify the person or persons who placed baits in the area of Kourris resulting in the poisoning of two animals is being conducted by the police.

The animals, a dog and a fox were found dead by members of the police, following a citizen's complaint, yesterday afternoon in the riverbed of Kourris. According to the police, a rooster was found in a cage in the area, which appears to have been deliberately placed by the perpetrators there to lure the animals. Next to the rooster's cage were found two eggs that appeared to contain poison.

The dead animals, and eggs were received for examination. The exact causes of death of the animals will be established by an autopsy to be carried out next Monday by officials of the veterinary services.
