2023 marks in practical form the effort of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and tourist agencies of Paphos for tourist exploitation of the gorges of the Akamas peninsula. Although the relevant efforts began in 2022, with the first on-site visits of competent actors to gorges of the community of Arodes, the practical actions for their systematic utilization did not have time to bear fruit, due to the very strong recovery of the tourist flow and now this will be done with the new year.
The inclusion of these natural beauties of Pafos in the tourist campaign of the province is considered another enriching part of its tourism policy. Within the framework of this preparation, competent bodies and officials have already prepared the campaign for the gorges of Kraminos, Eirinis, Dipotamos and Koufes, in order to be exploited and integrated into the tourist product of the province.
According to the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the area has something very unique to offer and under certain conditions, several points from the gorges and the wider area could be integrated into the tourist experience and become another important pole of attraction mainly for walkers and nature lovers, locals and foreigners.
In the near future, the planning will proceed and then the involvement and cooperation of the Department of Forests and other involved services will be requested for a more detailed promotion of the whole issue.
The Laona-Akamas area has unique experiences to offer and there is a great effort made in recent years to highlight its special features, upgrade the existing infrastructure and enrich the offered experiences, the competent bodies say.
