1,934 NEW CASES, 7 DEATHS - W/e 26 January

Seven people have died from coronavirus in the last week in Cyprus. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health, 1,934 new cases were identified with the positivity rate in total tests amounting to 2.92%.

  • 7 deaths announced
  • They concern:
  • Man, aged 63, who passed away on 19/01/2023
  • Woman, aged 86, who passed away on 20/01/2023
  • Woman, aged 82, who passed away on 21/01/2023
  • Man, aged 83, who passed away on 22/01/2023
  • Man, aged 98, who passed away on 23/01/2023
  • Man, aged 92, who passed away on 23/01/2023
  • Man, aged 95, who passed away on 26/01/2023
  • Total number of deaths with COVID-19 as the ultimate cause: 1,287.
  • 69 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in shsypy hospitals
  • 14 in serious condition (ICU: 0 off ventilator/8 intubated, MAF: 6)

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 66,251 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 1,934 new cases were detected (total cases 642,663).
  • Positivity rate in all tests 2,92%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 1,760 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 149 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 8.47%

Total number of rapid antigen tests:

  • 64,491 rapid antigen tests performed
  • There were 1,785 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.77%

Private initiative:

  • 1,310 molecular tests were performed, 59 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 4.5%)
  • 40,299 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,596 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.96%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 24,192 rapid antigen tests were performed. 189 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 16,447 rapid tests, 109 positive cases identified (positivity rate 0.66%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 715 rapid antigen tests, positive cases detected (positivity rate 0.28%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 5,543 rapid antigen tests were performed, 66 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.19%)
  • Closed facilities: 1,487 rapid antigen tests were performed, 12 new cases were identified (positivity rate 0.81%).
