The roads that will be closed next weekend due to the Nicosia Marathon 2022, are published by the organizing committee of the marathon.
The Organizing Committee, with the approval of the competent bodies, announces that, on Saturday 10/12/22 from 16:00 and on Sunday 11/12/2022 from 06:00 to 13:00 at the latest, the following roads in Nicosia will be closed to traffic due to the holding of a charity race called "Quantum Nicosia Marathon 2022".
Analytically:
Mikis Theodorakis Street will be closed from 16:00 on Saturday until 15:00 on Sunday
Also, for the Marathon and Half Marathon routes, Mikis Theodorakis, Kinyra streets up to the intersection with Nechrou, Paphos, Rigenis Avenue to Solomos Square, Kostaki Pantelidis, Konstantinos Palaiologou, Nikiforos Fokas, Athinas to the Vas. Georgiou II and Pouliou Kapotas, Christaki Christofi, Aigaios from the junction with Christakis Christofi, Archbishop Makarios III in Pallouriotissa to the junction with Ag. Ilarionos, Ag. Ilarionos up to bata junction (the traffic current to Aglantzia).
The Ilarianos and Ch. Samaras and Sopaz interchanges, Andreas Zakou and Famagusta Avenues, the intersection of Famagusta Avenue with Larnakos Street (the traffic flow to the University of Cyprus), the Panepistimiou and Larnakos and G. Kranidioti interchange, the University Campus and Athalassas Street, Athalassa and Nikandrou Papamina and KO22 (Kalamon) interchanges will be closed at the same hours. Athalassas and Arch. Makarios III at the entrance of Yeri.
The return of the runners will take place from Yeri to the Athalassa Park and Athalassas and Nikandrou Papamina and KO22 Kalamon streets will remain closed until the traffic lights at the Karaiskakio Foundation. The entrance of the Athalassa Park in Karaiskakio and the parking lot will also be closed. Also, Athalassas Street (E101) up to the motorway where the runners will be reversed, the B1 road towards the hospital and from the intersection with the E101 to the junction of the Mall of Cyprus.
The return of the runners will be made from the above roads to the finish.
In relation to the routes for the races 7.7 Miles, 5km. and 1Mile again between 06:00 and 13:00 will be closed the streets Mikis Theodorakis, Kinyra until the intersection with Nehrou, Paphos, Rigenis avenues up to Solomos Square, Kostaki Pantelidi, Konstantinou Palaiologou, Nikiforos Fokas, Athinas until vas. Georgiou II and Pouliou Kapotas, Christaki Christofi, Aigaios from the junction with Christakis Christofi, Archbishop Makarios III in Pallouriotissa to the junction with Ag. Hilarion.
Also closed will be the intersection of Nehru and Lord Byron Street, Lord Byron Street, the intersection of Leof. Lord Vyronos and Grivas Digenis where there will be controlled vertical passage of vehicles under the instructions of the Nicosia Traffic Police, Leof. Griva Digenis to Leof. Archangelos and Metochi Kykkou (only the traffic flow to Engomi will remain closed)
The Organizing Committee, representing the local authorities, apologizes "for the inevitable difficulty that will be caused and invites the public to participate in the great sports charity celebration of Nicosia and to show the necessary understanding and comply with the temporary road signs and the instructions of the Nicosia Traffic Police – Police".
