A coordinated operation to combat illegalities of all kinds was carried out for one more night by the Police in Paphos. On Saturday night, the emphasis was on combating the phenomenon of noise pollution and in this context 11 complaints were made by premises broadcasting music without permission from the competent authority. There were also 10 complaints about scooter trafficking, as well as driver complaints about traffic violations.
The most serious of these concerned a 30-year-old man who was arrested after being found driving under the influence of alcohol with a preliminary indication of 114 instead of the 22mg set by the legislator. The 30-year-old, in addition, refused to give a sample of a final examination, insulted and attacked a member of the Paphos Traffic Police.
On Saturday night, five other drivers were spotted on Paphos roads driving under the influence of alcohol and one under the influence of drugs.
The Paphos Police finally made two arrests in connection with a case of injury among foreigners committed a week ago. The two arrested persons are being brought before the Paphos District Court today for detention orders.
