MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Phase A1 perimeter highway, from Monday, November 14, 2022 at 01:00 a.m. (after Sunday midnight), for a period of 2 months, the exit from the existing Nicosia - Limassol highway in the direction of Nicosia towards the Tseriou bypass (Halepianes) will be closed to traffic. During the works and for a period of 2 months the traffic from Limassol to Tseri will be channelled through the Kotsiatis exit to the old Nicosia – Limassol road and through the light-controlled junction despite the lights of the JCC and the Tseri bypass.

On the Larnaca-Nicosia, Larnaca-Kofinou and Larnaca-Rizoelia Airport highways, in the period 19/12/2022 to 20/1/2023, every day except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 - 15:30, tree spraying operations will be carried out on the side of the road, from the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the rest of the highway in both directions will be partially closed for a length of 300 meters each way.

On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, as of September 03, 2022, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Phase AI perimeter highway, the traffic of the highway, which was conducted in 4 traffic lanes on the east side, was shifted to the west side of the existing highway. The traffic of the existing highway from Limassol to Nicosia and vice versa will be carried out in 2 traffic lanes instead of 3 in a length of 2 km. approximately on the west side of the existing highway. The traffic from the exit of the industrial area of Idalio to the Tseri bypass will be uninterrupted, while the traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia via the highway will not be conducted. Traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the JCC light-controlled junction. Traffic from the highway heading towards Limassol to the Idali industrial area will be conducted through the new exit constructed as part of the Perimeter Project, while traffic from the Idali industrial area to the existing highway heading towards Limassol will be uninterrupted. During the works, traffic on the highway from Nicosia to Limassol and vice versa will be conducted in one lane. The traffic from the Tseri bypass to the existing highway in the direction of Nicosia and from the industrial area of Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will not be carried out at the specified times. It is noted that traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the light-controlled junction near the JCC. The traffic from the industrial area of Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will be conducted from the entrance of Kotsiatis. It is noted that the above arrangement will last for a period of approximately 5 months. The public can be informed about the above planned works, through the website www.traffic4cyprus.org.cy, which provides a cartographic representation of the works and their effects on traffic during their execution.

In Nicosia, from Monday 12 December 2022 to Friday 23 December 2022, works will be carried out on a section of Markou Drakou Street, from the Markos Drakou roundabout to its junction with Haralambo Mouscou Street. During the work, the section in question will remain closed to traffic.

In the city of Larnaca, during the period 28/11/2022 – 30/12/2022, excluding Sundays and public holidays, between the hours of 08:00 – 16:00, at Spyros Kyprianou, Giannou Kranidiotis, Nikos and Despina Pattichis Avenues, Limassol (Vassos Lysaridis), Georgiou Christodoulidis, Dimitris Christofias, Famagusta, Tassos Papadopoulos, Alexandros Panagoulis and the European Union, cleaning and pruning of the central islets will be carried out by the Municipality of Larnaca. During the works, the adjacent lanes will be partially closed (in both directions) for approximately 500 metres and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

Also in Larnaca, on Alexandrou Panagoulis Avenue, during the period 8/12/2022 – 31/1/2023, daily including weekends and holidays, works will be carried out to install a network of storm drains, by the Larnaca Sewerage Council. During the above period, a section of Alexandrou Panagouli Avenue, from its junction with the light-controlled junction with Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to its junction with Kanellopoulou Street, in the direction of Livadia, will be closed and traffic will be diverted through adjacent roads.

In the province of Larnaca, on Monday, 19/12/2022 until Thursday, 22/12/2022, between the hours of 08:00 – 15:00, works will be carried out by the Municipality of Livadia, in parts of Alexandrou Panagoulis and Andreas Stylianou Avenues, for the maintenance of the greenery of the central islands. During the works on Alexandrou Panagouli Avenue, from the Technical School roundabout to its junction with the road to the church of Agios Savvas, the tangential traffic lane will be partially closed from both directions for a length of 100-200m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. During the works, Andreas Stylianou Avenue will be closed in both directions from its junction with the Larnaca-Dekelia coastal road to its junction with Alexandrou Panagoulis Avenue and traffic will be diverted through adjacent roads.

In Aradippou, in parts of Hellas Avenue, during the period 15/12/2022 – 22/12/2022, every day except weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, maintenance work will be carried out on the greenery of the central islets, from Municipality of Aradippou. During the works, the tangential traffic lane will be partially closed from both directions for a length of 500-1000m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

In Germasogeia, in the area of the Germasogeia roundabout, in the period from 10/10/2022 until the end of December 2022, works will be carried out on the eastern part of Agia Paraskevi street, from the Germasogeia roundabout to its junction with Mylou street ( approximately 170 m long). During the works, traffic will be diverted to the western part of the road with two-way traffic.

In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometers. It also includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiaulis, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of approximately 600 meters, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools included in the construction.  The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related works. Depending on each phase of the works, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the works to be performed as well as the corresponding traffic regulations.

Also in Tseri, on Analyonda Street, in the section from its junction with Poseidonos Street to its junction with Tevkrou Anthia Street, from Friday 9/9/2022 and for a period of 4 months, renovation works will be carried out, in framework of the implementation of the 1st phase of the "Road within Tseriou" project. During this phase, all traffic lanes will be closed in the aforementioned section. Drivers heading towards Nicosia are urged to use Poseidonos, Andrea Kesta, Archiepiskou Makariou III and Leontiou A' streets, which will be reversed to one-way traffic from Archiepiskou Makariou III to Pieridis Street. Drivers heading towards Analyondas are urged to use Tevkrou Anthia, Makrygianni, Tripolitsas, Papalazarou, Achilleos and Omirou streets, following the temporary markings.

Also in Tseri, from Tuesday, 03/01/2023 and for a period of two months, on Tseri Avenue of the Municipality of Tseri, in the section from its junction with Evias Street to its junction with Salaminos Street (up to Iero Church of Saints Constantine and Helen), renovation works will be carried out as part of the implementation of the project "Road within Tseri".

During this phase, in the aforementioned section, all traffic lanes will be closed. Drivers heading towards Tseri are urged to use Evia, Archiepiskopou Kyprianou, Thermopylon, Pentadaktilo, V. Michaelidis and Salaminos streets. Drivers heading towards Nicosia are urged to use Salaminos, Pentadaktilo, Kouriou, Idaliou, Archiepiskopou Kyprianou and Evia streets following the temporary markings.

On the coastal road of Larnaca-Dekelia, in Larnaca, from the roundabout of the Marine Club and with a length of 800 m. approximately, as part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C", from 04/10/2022 and for a period of approximately five months, works will be carried out next to the road boundaries and drivers are urged to be cautious.

In Germasogeia, construction work on the Germasogeia bypass road continues as normal. From Sunday, August 7, 2022, the construction work of the next phase of the Project will be carried out, which will last 6 months and includes, among other things, the reconstruction/upgrading of a 400m long section of the road on Agia Paraskevi Street. up to the southern part of the Germasogeia roundabout, the reconstruction of Mylou Street and the construction of a roundabout at the junction of the new Mikis Theodorakis Avenue with Agia Paraskevi and Milos Streets. During the construction work of this phase the following traffic arrangements will apply:

(a) The junction of Agia Paraskevi and Mylos Streets will be closed and the section of Agia Paraskevi Street south of Tellyrias Street will temporarily operate as a cul-de-sac. Traffic from/to Germasogeia and from/to Limassol will take place via the new bypass road and its connections with Agia Paraskevi street from Isabella, Patron and Tellyria streets. The access of Agia Paraskevi street towards Limassol is expected to be handed over to traffic around the end of October 2022.

  (b) Mylou Street will be closed and its eastern section, from its junction with Potamias Street, will temporarily function as a dead-end street to serve merchants and residents.

(c) Traffic from/to Muttayaka will be able to be done via Potamias Street (east) or via the new bypass road and Agios Georgios Street.

Also within the framework of the Greater Limassol Major Flood Control Project, from Thursday December 1st 2022 until Thursday December 22nd 2022, work will be carried out on Petraki Kyprianou Street, in the Municipality of Limassol, south of the intercity road and east of Frederick University, and the entrance from Metanaston Street to Petraki Kyprianou Street will be closed.

Also within the framework of the Great Flood Protection Project of Greater Limassol, from Tuesday 13 December 2022 to Friday 23 December 2022, works will be carried out on Sfalaggiotissis Street, in the Municipality of Agios Athanasios, in the section from Charalambou Chrysanthou Street to Iakovou Paschalidis Street, the which will be closed to all vehicles. The traffic from south to north and vice versa, as well as the unimpeded entrance to the community stadium of SEK, will be through other roads.

In Paphos, in the Geroskipou area, from Tuesday, April 5, 2022, until Monday, March 6, 2023, the connecting road B6 - A6 (Limassol - Paphos), will be closed to traffic, due to roundabout construction works on Kinyra Street in Geroskipou. During the works drivers and pedestrians will be able to use a temporary detour that has been constructed for this purpose.

In the province of Nicosia, on the road Analionta - Kampion, in the period 25/11/2022 - 23/12/2022, pipeline laying works will be carried out.

In the district of Limassol, the Arakapa - Sykopetras road will remain closed due to the extension of the execution of improvement works, from December 16 to December 23, 2022 around the clock. The public can use the Sykopetras - Agios Konstantinos road.

On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, as part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vasilikos Energy Center, the eastern road that connects the old Nicosia-Limassol road with the port of Vasilikos, which was closed since 1/21/2020, will remain closed to traffic for another four months, until the end of February, 2023. During the works, all traffic to and from Vassiliko will be diverted to the corresponding westbound road, via Mari. The traffic of vehicles and pedestrians in adjacent streets and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.

Also on the old Nicosia-Limassol road, in the period 15/12/2022 – 22/12/2022, every day except weekends, network maintenance work will be carried out by a private telecommunications company. During the works, the road will be partially closed, from the exit to Pyrga to the exit to the Satellite Station, for a length of approximately 50 meters each time, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane using a STOP and GO.
