FIRST GREEN HYDROGEN STATION COMING TO CYPRUS

In the final straight enters the construction and operation of a Hydrogen Refueling Station, the first of its kind, owned by the company Future Fuels Ltd, in the Municipality of Aradippou, in the Larnaca district.

As everything advocates very soon in the district of Larnaca and more specifically in the boundaries of the Municipality of Aradippou, the first green hydrogen station will operate for refueling vehicles. The company Future Fuels Ltd, submitted an environmental impact assessment study (MEEP) for the construction and operation of a hydrogen refuelling station, in the municipality of Aradippou, in the Larnaca district.

The geographical location of the project is located northeast of Larnaca Municipality, south of the centre of Aradippou Municipality, located North of Dromolaxia and Meneou municipality, southwest to Livadia municipality and southeast to Kalo Chorio community. The construction of the factory and the refuelling station will be done on a plot (rented by the applicant – 15-year agreement) with number 371 (PV – 55/25) in the area of Agios Fanourios. The total area of the plot is 2,077 square meters.

The company Future Fuels, plans the construction and operation of a pilot plant for the production (150 tons per year), storage (2 x 500 kg) and compression of "green" hydrogen that will be used as fuel for vehicles, as well as the production of a refuelling station. The project will be submitted for funding under the call for the Innovation Fund small-scale projects involving substantially also funding from the European Union's green funds.

The aim of the project is to support the use of clean energy resources in transport and thus reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The hydrogen produced will be "green", as it will be produced from electricity supplied from a renewable energy source, as the applicant has signed a contract with a green energy supplier in Cyprus.
