Police in Larnaca on Thursday arrested a 22-year-old man for possession of drugs and money which appears to have been obtained through illegal activity.
According to the police, shortly after 10pm police stopped the vehicle driven by the 22-year-old for a check.
A search revealed six nylon packages containing four grams of cocaine, a cannabis grinder and the sum of €960 in cash, which were confiscated.
The 22-year-old was arrested and in a subsequent search of his home, a precision scale and the sum of €1,150 were found.
The young man was released, pending police investigation of the confiscated items.
Meanwhile in Paphos, police likewise detained a 26-year-old man for illegal drugs possession.
According to police spokesman Michalis Nikolaou, a crime prevention unit stopped a vehicle for control for Thursday around 1pm on Archbishop Makarios Avenue in Konia.
During the vehicle search, police found two knives classed as prohibited, as well as burglary tools, all of which were confiscated.
A half-smoked joint was also found and the man tested positive to a preliminary drug test. He was charged and taken into custody.
Police on Friday arrested a man for possessing an unregistered metal detector following a car chase.
According to police spokesman Michalis Nikolaou, shortly before 1am a crime prevention patrol in Paphos spotted a car without number plates parked at a kiosk on Archbishop Makarios Avenue in Konia.
When approached, the driver sped off in an attempt to evade the police. Police pursued and finally halted the vehicle.
For examinations that followed, it was established that the driver was a 38-year-old man and inside the vehicle a metal detector was found, the possession of which is prohibited without written permission from the antiquities department.
The man was arrested for the violations committed and refused to submit to a drug test. Refusing to submit to a drug test is also an offence and the 38-year-old was detained.
