Any illegality one can think of was made by a 25-year-old foreigner, a resident of Paphos who was spotted on Saturday night by a patrol of the Traffic Police. The driver in question was stopped for inspection by a patrol of the Paphos Directorate on a city street and it was found that he was carrying in the vehicle that he was driving a... car engine which is estimated to be stolen.
The subsequent inspections also identified illegalities covering the entire spectrum of the Highway Code. He was driving without a licence, without vehicle insurance, while the car was declared immobilized.
And not only that. The police found that the 25-year-old was staying illegally on the territory of the Republic, while he also possessed an identity card of the Greek Republic that was found to be a forgery and he himself is a citizen of Georgia.
The 25-year-old was arrested and detained, and was brought before the Paphos District Court yesterday, which issued a four-day detention order against him.
During the traffic checks on Saturday night, the Paphos Police also proceeded to report 51 persons for traffic offences. In total, 17 of them involved driving under the influence of alcohol, two for positive drug tests, and three vehicle seizures were made for further investigations.
