The granting of an extraordinary Christmas Gift for 2022, with an expenditure of €17.1 million, was approved today by the Council of Ministers, following a proposal by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Ms. Anastasia Anthousi.
The Christmas Gift will be given to the same categories of beneficiaries that was given in 2021 and specifically to:
- Beneficiaries of a guaranteed minimum income (GMI),
- Beneficiaries of a Scheme for the Support of Households of Pensioners with Low Incomes,
- Beneficiaries of a scheme for the provision of an honorary allowance for a mother with many children,
- Recipients of public assistance, and
- Enclaved and children of enclaved people who live in the occupied areas and attend the Kindergarten, Primary and High School of Rizokarpaso.
In addition to the above categories of beneficiaries, the extraordinary Christmas Gift will be granted this year to beneficiaries who receive a Single Parent Family Allowance, with a total income of up to €19,500 and deposits of up to €10,000.
It is clarified that the amount of the Christmas Gift will not be considered as income for the purposes of providing the UGS, the Low Pensioners Allowance, the Honorary Allowance for a Mother with Many Children, the Child and Single Parent Family Allowance, the Easter Gift and the Christmas Gift.
Payment of Benefits of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare for December
In view of the Christmas holidays, the Social Welfare Services and the Welfare Benefits Administration Service of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare have made all the necessary arrangements for earlier payment of public aids, allowances and other social benefits, as follows:
