He was driving his car having consumed four times the permitted amount of alcohol, as evidenced by the subsequent check. The irresponsibility of the 39-year-old driver was paid for by the owner of a catering business on the main avenue of Peyia, after his car under the influence of driver alcohol ended up inside his store, seriously injuring him.
The very serious new incident of traffic illegalities took place on Wednesday afternoon on the central Michalaki Avenue Kyprianou of Pegeia. According to the Police, a 39-year-old resident of Paphos, under circumstances that are being investigated, lost control of his vehicle, as a result of which he first crashed into a concrete wall and then entered through the glass showcase into a catering business and hit the 36-year-old owner, seriously injuring him.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to Paphos Hospital, where he was found to have multiple injuries to various parts of his body and was detained for treatment. According to the doctors on duty, his state of health is considered serious, but out of danger.
The 39-year-old driver, who was not injured in the accident, underwent an alcohol test, with a lower final reading of 92μg%, instead of the 22μg% allowed as a maximum by law. An arrest warrant was issued against him under which he was arrested and taken into custody.
The Pegeia Police Station continues the examinations.
