MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment informs the public that due to ongoing forestry work in the area, part of the Platania - Apotheri - Agios Nikolaos Stegis road will remain closed until Friday 4/11/2022. On the Limassol-Paphos highway, in the section from Erimi to Petra tou Romiou, until 26/11/2022, between the hours of 08:00 - 15:00, plantation watering works will be carried out within the central island, as well as on the slopes of the road, by the Forest Department. While the works are being carried out, the right traffic lane heading from Limassol to Paphos will be partially closed for a length of 1000m. and traffic will be diverted to the left lane.

On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, in the period 9/5/2022 – 31/10/2022, excluding weekends, work will be carried out to install emergency exits on the central island of the highway from Alhambra to Germasogeia at twenty (20) points. During the works, the right traffic lanes to Limassol and to Nicosia will be closed in sections of 100m. approximately at each point and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lanes. On the Limassol-Paphos highway, section after the Erimi exit, 450m long. approx., as well as part of the exit from the highway to Kolossi/ Erimi, 200m long, in the direction of Limassol, will operate without a ramp, due to works for the construction of the new road network in the area of ​​the New Limassol Stadium. The works will be carried out in the period 30/8/2022 – 07/12/2022, on weekdays and Saturdays, between the hours 07:00 – 15:00. On the Limassol-Paphos highway, the Kolossi / Erimi exit will remain closed from Monday 31/10/2022 until Saturday 5/11/2022, as part of the construction of the new road network in the area of ​​the New Limassol Stadium. Affected drivers are urged to use the previous exit to Ypsona or the next exit to Erimi. In the province of Larnaca, on the Larnaca Airport - Ayia Napa and Larnaca - Kofinou highways, in the period 31/10/2022 - 2/12/2022, between the hours of 08:30 - 14:30 daily, except on weekends, pruning and watering operations will be carried out of the plants on its slopes by the Forestry Department. During the works, on the highway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelias roundabout (from both directions) and on the Larnaca - Kofinou Highway, part of the highway shoulder will be closed, in sections for a length of 100 meters each way. On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, as of September 03, 2022, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Phase AI perimeter highway, the traffic of the highway, which was conducted in 4 traffic lanes on the east side, was shifted to the west side of the existing highway. The traffic of the existing highway from Limassol to Nicosia and vice versa will be carried out in 2 traffic lanes instead of 3 in a length of 2 km. approximately on the west side of the existing highway. The traffic from the exit of the industrial area of ​​Idalio to the Tseri bypass will be uninterrupted, while the traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia via the highway will not be conducted. Traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the JCC light-controlled junction. Traffic from the highway heading towards Limassol to the Idali industrial area will be conducted through the new exit constructed as part of the Perimeter Project, while traffic from the Idali industrial area to the existing highway heading towards Limassol will be uninterrupted. During the works, traffic on the highway from Nicosia to Limassol and vice versa will be conducted in one lane. The traffic from the Tseri bypass to the existing highway in the direction of Nicosia and from the industrial area of ​​Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will not be carried out at the specified times. It is noted that traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the light-controlled junction near the JCC. The traffic from the industrial area of ​​Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will be conducted from the entrance of Kotsiatis. It is noted that the above arrangement will last for a period of approximately 5 months. The public can be informed about the above planned works, through the website www.traffic4cyprus.org.cy, which provides a cartographic representation of the works and their effects on traffic during their execution. In Germasogeia, in the area of ​​the roundabout of Germasogeia, during the period from 10/10/2022 until the end of December 2022, work will be carried out on the eastern part of Agia Paraskevi Street, from the Germasogeia Roundabout to its junction with Mylou Street (approximately 170 m long). During the works, traffic will be diverted to the western part of the road with two-way traffic.

In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometres. It also includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiaulis, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of ​​approximately 600 metres, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools included in the construction. The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related works. Depending on each phase of the works, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the works to be performed as well as the corresponding traffic regulations. Also in Tseri, on Analyonda Street, in the section from its junction with Poseidonos Street to its junction with Tevkrou Anthia Street, from Friday 9/9/2022 and for a period of 4 months, renovation works will be carried out, in framework of the implementation of the 1st phase of the "Road within Tseriou" project. During this phase, all traffic lanes will be closed in the aforementioned section. Drivers heading towards Nicosia are urged to use Poseidonos, Andrea Kesta, Archiepiskou Makariou III and Leontiou A' streets, which will be reversed to one-way traffic from Archiepiskou Makariou III to Pieridis Street. Drivers heading towards Analyondas are urged to use Tevkrou Anthia, Makrygianni, Tripolitsas, Papalazarou, Achilleos and Omirou streets, following the temporary markings. On the coastal road of Larnaca-Dekeleia, in Larnaca, from the roundabout of the Marine Club and at a length of 800m. approximately, as part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C", from 04/10/2022 and for a period of approximately five months, works will be carried out next to the road boundaries and drivers are urged to be careful. On the road Larnaca - Kitiou, in the period 31/10/2022 - 11/11/2022, every day except the weekend, between the hours of 08:00 - 15:00, pruning operations of the plants of the central island will be carried out, by the Municipality of Dromolaxia. During the works, from the roundabout of the new Airport to the roundabout of the old Airport, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed for a length of 500m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In the district of Paphos, the Paphos - Polis Chrysochous road - by from the village of Yolou - from its junction with the Stroumbi - Kathikas road to the junction with the road to Simou in the area of ​​Kouyoukka, will remain closed until Tuesday, November 15, 2022. during the road works, access to and from Poli Chrysochous will be from the road Stroumbi - Kathikas - Drouseia - Prodromi as well as from the road Polemi - Agios Dimitrianos - Lhasa - Simou. In the district of Nicosia, specifically in Deutera, on Griva Digeni Avenue, Anthoupoli – Palechorio road, from Friday, May 27, 2022 and for a period of approximately five (5) months, construction work will be carried out on a roundabout at its junction with Agia Marina Street. During the works, traffic from Anthoupoli to Palaichori and vice versa will be diverted through a temporary bypass road of approximately 300m length. The junction of Griva Digeni Avenue with Agia Marina Street will be closed and drivers from Palaichori to Deutera are urged to use the previous exit towards Anagyia – Pano Deutera. In the district of Limassol, the Arakapa - Sykopetras road will remain closed due to improvement works, from October 17, 2022 to November 4, 2022, around the clock. The public can use the Sykopetras - Agios Konstantinos road. In the village of Kandou, by the junction to Sotira, on the Erimis-Mandrio road, from Monday, October 31, 2022 to Saturday, November 12, 2022, elevated junction and sidewalk works will be carried out by a private contracting company. During the works, one lane of the road will be closed for approximately 120m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, with alternating traffic management with temporary traffic lights. In Germasogeia, construction work on the Germasogeia bypass road continues as normal. From Sunday, August 7, 2022, the construction work of the next phase of the Project will be carried out, which will last 6 months and includes, among other things, the reconstruction/upgrading of a 400m long section of the road on Agia Paraskevi Street. up to the southern part of the Germasogeia roundabout, the reconstruction of Mylou Street and the construction of a roundabout at the junction of the new Mikis Theodorakis Avenue with Agia Paraskevi and Milos Streets. During the construction work of this phase the following traffic arrangements will apply: (a) The junction of Agia Paraskevi and Mylos Streets will be closed and the section of Agia Paraskevi Street south of Tellyrias Street will temporarily operate as a cul-de-sac. Traffic from/to Germasogeia and from/to Limassol will take place via the new bypass road and its connections with Agia Paraskevi street from Isabella, Patron and Tellyria streets. The access of Agia Paraskevi street towards Limassol is expected to be handed over to traffic around the end of October 2022. (b) Mylou Street will be closed and its eastern section, from its junction with Potamias Street, will temporarily function as a dead-end street to serve merchants and residents. (c) Traffic from/to Muttayaka will be able to be done via Potamias Street (east) or via the new bypass road and Agios Georgios Street. The works will continue on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, from the junction with Vasileos Konstantinou Street to the junction with Nikou Pattichi Street, from Saturday 15 October to Monday 5 December 2022 as part of the Greater Limassol Flood Control Project. During the works, the northbound lanes of the upper part of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue will remain closed and traffic will flow both ways in the southbound lanes. Traffic on Nikos Pattihis Street will not be affected. Also in Limassol, on Nikou and Despoinas Pattichi Streets, in the section from its junction with Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to its junction with Makariou III Avenue, from Monday 17/10/2022 until Thursday 3/11/2022, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between the hours of 22:00 in the evening and 06:00 in the morning of the following day, construction work will be carried out on a brick island and temporary parking spaces. During the works, one lane in each direction will be partially closed for approximately 300 meters and traffic will be diverted to the other lane. The public is requested, during the above period, to avoid parking vehicles along Nikou and Despina Pattichi streets. As part of the Great Flood Protection Project of Greater Limassol, the works of the second phase have begun on Patron Street, which will last until Saturday, November 12, 2022. During the works, Patron Street from its junction with Armonias Street to Agia Paraskevi will be closed to all vehicles and traffic to and from Agios Athanasios will be through other roads. In Paphos, in the Geroskipou area, from Tuesday, April 5, 2022, until Monday, March 6, 2023, the connecting road B6 - A6 (Limessos - Paphos), will be closed to traffic, due to roundabout construction works on Kinyra Street in Geroskipou. During the works drivers and pedestrians will be able to use a temporary detour that has been constructed for this purpose. On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, in the period 29/8/2022 – 5/12/2022, from 07:00 a.m. until 15:00, every day except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, construction work will be carried out on the slope of the road in the Kofinou area and for a length of approximately 1500m. During the works, one traffic lane of the old Nicosia - Limassol road will be partially closed for a length of 100m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane, using STOP & GO signage. Also on the old Nicosia-Limassol road, as part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vasilikos Energy Center, the eastern road that connects the old Nicosia-Limassol road with the port of Vasilikos, which was closed since 21/1/2020 , will remain closed to traffic for a period of around four more months. During the works, all traffic to and from Vassiliko will be diverted to the corresponding western road, via Mari. The traffic of vehicles and pedestrians in adjacent streets and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements. On the old Limassol-Nicosia road, in the section between Pyrgos and Moni, in the period 29/10/2022 – 19/11/2022, excavation and installation of a pipeline for the needs of SALA will be carried out by a private contracting company. During the works, one lane of the road will be closed for a length of 120m. approximately and traffic will be managed with temporary traffic lights.
