Having secured the positive vote of more than 90% of the staff, the General Councils of the EAC trade unions (EPOPAI, SIDIKEK, SEPAIK and SYVAIK), which met in separate sessions, unanimously decided to take the following measures:

A Strike Committee is established, consisting of the Presidents of the Trade Unions, EPOPAI, SEPAIK, SIDIKEK and SYVAIK, which will deal with the local Strike Committees and the local Directors of the Authority, in cases of Emergencies.
- On Wednesday 23/11/2022 - strike, 07:00 – 19:00
The following staff are excluded from the measures:
• Executive Directors and Directors
• Human Resources Manager
• Production Station Shift Staff
• Personnel dealing with faults and personnel working in the Fault Reporting Centers who will act after approval of the Strike Committee.
• System Control Officers on duty in the Regions
• Concierges / Guards
• All EAC staff working at TSO
• The Private Secretaries of the President and the Director-General
• EAC Spokesperson
"Staff exempted from the strike will normally come to work. The rest of the staff will come to their workplace, register their arrival time and demonstrate outside their workplaces.
We hope and expect that both you and the competent Bodies will be active in resolving the issues that afflict the Organization and the employees, in order to avoid escalation of the measures, a fact for which you will bear full responsibility," the unions said in a letter to the General Manager of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus.
The reasons
"Through a series of our letters, which we published for the information of the people / consumers, we have informed you and the Board of Directors of the Authority, about the serious issues that concern our Organization and affect its proper operation, the safety and health of the staff, the cost of electricity and the timely, safe and effective service of consumers", the guilds note, adding that "the staff is disappointed and deeply dissatisfied with the turn things are taking, both with the decisions / actions of the Ministries of Finance, Energy, Transport and CERA, as well as with the inaction and obstruction, observed by you and the Board of Directors for what is disastrous for EAC".
At the same time, the guilds convey "the determination of the staff to fight for the protection and preservation of our Organization, convinced that with our struggle we defend both the interest of the country and the economy, but also of consumers".
