The US-mediated agreement, on the basis of which the maritime borders and exclusive economic zones (EEZs) of Israel and Lebanon in the Mediterranean are defined is intended to be a definitive solution to their long-standing dispute, according to a draft that was brought to the attention of Reuters.
It will enter into force once Lebanon and Israel have sent letters to the US in which they will formally state that they have reached an agreement, with Washington then formally announcing to both that the agreement is in force.
On the day on which the US proceeds with the relevant information, the two countries will send identical coordinates for the boundaries of their zones and borders to the United Nations (UN).
