Recently, the Police have received several complaints about suspicious misleading emails sent en masse to the public and falsely pretending to be members of the Cyprus Police (in this case Assistant Chief), informing unsuspecting citizens that they are involved in various criminal offences via the Internet (sexual assaults, rapes, child pornography, etc.).
The misleading messages bear, among other things, the logos of the European Union and Europol.
The Police informs the public that this is a fraud and the messages have nothing to do with the Cyprus Police.
The public is urged to be particularly careful and not to respond if such a message is received.
