The city of Paphos has been selected as a finalist for the title of European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023 among 29 candidates from 13 countries. The preparation of the application was handled jointly by the Municipality of Paphos and the Paphos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company.
This European distinction rewards the efforts made to make the destination smart, says a communication, while encouraging networking and strengthening destinations and facilitating the exchange of best practices. As a next step, the shortlisted cities will be invited to present their nominations before a European jury in November, which will select the European Capitals of Smart Tourism 2023.
The destination Paphos, in case it will win the title of European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023, is expected to receive specialized communication and branding support for 2023. This will include the production of an advertising video, a specially designed hashtag sculpture for the city, as well as personalized promotion and visibility activities at European level and internationally.
The Paphos Etap, the announcement concludes, wishes to express its thanks to the Municipality of Paphos for the actions it implements in the direction of SMART CITY but also for the support and cooperation so that the destination Paphos expands its comparative advantages and differentiates even more from the competition.
