The Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (KSED) of the Ministry of Defence announced the construction of modern rescue points, with CYTA's cooperation, as part of the continuous effort to upgrade the Search and Rescue services provided in Cyprus.
The points have been placed in three areas of increased traffic, which have been classified as high risk: the sea caves in Cape Greco, the pier near the Old Port of Limassol and the beach "Ta Bania" in Kato Paphos. Each one includes a circular life jacket with a rope, placed in a hard case, for the immediate rescue of a person in danger. It is activated automatically, by phone, informing the Operations Center of the KSED and at the same time, through a camera installed in the case, transfers an image from the point, in real time.
The need to create the three points was based on statistics of the KSED, which demonstrate their high risk, as well as on the results of a pilot operation of a rescue point in the area of Agioi Anargyroi in Cape Greco.
The KSED would like to thank CYTA for supporting the creation of the Rescue Points, but also for its long-standing cooperation with the Centre, which contributes significantly to the preservation of human life.
