The ECB's President, Christine Lagarde, announced the holding of the next meeting of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank on October 5 in Cyprus, adding that an informal meeting will follow on Thursday, October 6th.
According to an announcement by the European Commission, the meeting will be held in Cyprus following an interest shown by the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Konstantinos Herodotou, in hosting it, while similar interest has been expressed by other Central Bank Governors.
It is also noted that this is an important meeting due to the situation in the European economy and it is indicative that further time will be devoted to discussing more extensive strategic issues.
The descent of all the governors of the 19 eurozone countries in Cyprus at a time with so many challenges for the European economy is undoubtedly of particular importance for the country, it is emphasized.
Finally, it is recalled that the President of the ECB was in Cyprus again last March at the invitation of Mr. Herodotus. During her visit at the time, she had a meeting with the President of the Republic and women's organizations, while she also participated in a conference organized by the Central Bank of Cyprus with invited executives from the business community.
