ECOLOGISTS - QUESTIONING CONCLUSIONS ON SHREDDING OF CAT

 Filenews 31 October 2022

Revulsion and horror is caused by an incident of cat dissection in the Nicosia district. The incident took place on October 15, where the head and tail of a cat were thrown away and located in a courtyard of a house. The Animal Police was immediately informed, who received the evidence for autopsy to ascertain the causes of death and how the kitten was found in such a tragic situation.

According to an announcement by the Ecologists' Movement - Citizens' Cooperation, at first sight it seems that the shredding was done by human hand as the cat's head was intact and its tail cut from the root. The complainant, from the first moment, indicated a specific suspect to the Police. 13 days passed and the owner of the house had no information from the Animal Police about the outcome of the case. It is noted that the owner of the house takes care of kittens and - unfortunately - noticed that lately kittens are constantly disappearing without cause. We all know that for someone who cares for animals their loss is painful, extremely painful. After a trial communication of the Movement with the central station of Lycabettus last week and was informed that the death of the cat was caused by another animal. The complainant and the Green Movement, question the findings of the authorities as the head was intact without bites and the tail cut from the root. What animal could do this?

At the same time, the Movement is asking for immediate information on how the Veterinary Services document the finding that the cat's death was caused by another animal and which animal could achieve such "careful dissection"? What animal could shred the cat and carry the pieces to the complainant's yard? Reasonable questions that need to be answered immediately.

Also, a wonder, as the Movement reports, is why the Animal Police did not inform the complainant of the outcome of the case? The Task Force of the Movement for the Animals, is almost daily receiving complaints from other citizens that the Animal Police almost never informs citizens about the outcome of their cases, leaving them in agony.

The Coordinator of the Action Group of the Movement for the Animals, Mrs. Anthi Mouzouri, stressed that "as the Movement of Ecologists – Citizens' Cooperation, we ask that the case be examined again as the photos testify that the cat tragically died by human hand and the one who carried out this heinous act, very likely to try to do something similar in the future".
