Within the next few days, a decision is expected from the competent authorities for the administration of a booster / 5th dose of the vaccine against COVID-19, said the Deputy Director of Nursing Services Evagoras Tambouris. The decision was expected to be made today but this was not possible.
According to Mr. Tambouris, the administration of the 5th dose will begin shortly. It will be given to people aged 30 and over, to people of all ages who live or work in nursing homes and closed facilities, to health professionals regardless of age and to other vulnerable groups.
In the meantime, so far since September 20, when the administration of a booster / 4th dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 began, 3,846 people have been vaccinated, Mr. Tambouris said.
He said that the turnout of people has been on the rise in recent days for the 3rd and 4th tranches and expressed optimism that it will intensify in the coming months.
