Next June, the major tourism project that AVAX has postponed with TERNA in Cyprus is expected to be completed.
The project concerns the construction of the hotel and casino complex "City of Dreams Mediterranean" in Cyprus, with a total built-up area of approximately 96,000 sq.m.
Upon completion, the iconic project, located in Limassol, will be the largest and most luxurious multi-themed resort in Europe. It will feature a 16-storey 5-star hotel with more than 500 luxurious rooms and suites, an outdoor amphitheatre, adventure park, dining areas and luxury shops.
It will also have a conference-exhibition centre of 10,000 square metres, while in total the project is expected to attract 300,000 additional tourists per year.
The total value of the contract is €270 million while the participation rates in the construction for AVAX and TERNA are 60% - 40% respectively.
When completed, "The City of Dreams Mediterranean" will be the first and only licensed multi-themed resort in Cyprus and the largest in Europe and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
It is estimated that its operation will create 2,400 permanent jobs. After its second year of operation, the multi-themed casino-resort is expected to contribute around €700 million annually in the Cypriot economy, which corresponds to about 4% of the country's annual GDP.
