A new increase in the price of cement is expected from November, putting further fire to construction costs.

According to information from next month comes a new increase in the price of cement, the second within the year (the first was made last March), with the cement industries talking about an explosive mixture of costs (energy costs, inflationary pressures, rise in packaging materials, etc.).

The new increase, according to Heracles cycles, will take effect from mid-November, while the amount of the upcoming increase has not yet been finalized.

Today the price of cement (per ton) is around€100 and according to information the increase will be in the range of 8% to 10%, i.e. €8 to 10 more per tonne, while according to other sources it is not excluded that the increase will reach 15%, i.e. €15 more per tonne.

AGET circles told Capital.gr that usually the increase is in the range of 8% to 10% but the final amount will be determined within the next few days.

Last March, AGET HERACLES proceeded with increases of 8% while TITAN proceeded to an increase of 10% which took place at the end of the first quarter.

The renewed rise in the price of cement is expected to trigger increases in a number of other products associated with it, such as tile adhesives and mortars.

Last August, according to the latest data from ELSTAT, there was a new large increase, of 12% in the prices of building materials.

In particular, appreciations were recorded in: Electricity (38.4%), Diesel- Diesel (30.1%), Bricks (29.6%), Reinforcement iron (17.2%), Parquet (17.2%), Copper pipelines (16.4%), Building timber (12.1%), Ready-mixed concrete (11.6%), Built-in cabinets (10.8%), Security glazing (10.6%), Marble slabs (9.6%), Plastic, acrylic, water (9.5%), Wooden windows (9%), Interior doors (9%), Aluminium frames (8.8%), Cement (8.4%), Tiles in general- floor, wall (7.1%).

The price increases in raw materials have triggered an increase in project budgets on the one hand and an increase in the cost of housing up to 50% on the other.

Thus, while the average cost for a typical construction ranged from €1,000 to 1,200 per square metre, today it has jumped to  €1,500 to 1,700 per square metre.
