86.1% OF THE POPULATION WITH PRIMARY VACCINATION AGAINST COVID

Vaccination remains the first line of defence against COVID-19, and until October 20, 2022 the percentage of the population over eighteen years of age with primary vaccination was 86.1 percent, while 72 percent were vaccinated with the booster dose, including the 3rd, 4th and 5th doses, said the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Christina Giannaki. He noted that for booster doses, only the updated Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are used.

Ms. Yiannakis was speaking in the context of the 1st Scientific Workshop on Vaccinations, organized today by the Ministry of Health and the Pancyprian Medical Association, at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, which was under the auspices of the Minister of Health Michalis Hatzipantelas.

So, he said, at a time marked by radical changes in lifestyle and new challenges for the health system, we should all work together and raise awareness in order to improve the quality of the health services provided.

In addition, the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Pancyprian Medical Association and President of the Pediatric Society, Dr. Michalis Anastasiades, stressed that the promotion and promotion of the value of vaccinations directly concerns other scientific disciplines, "with the cooperation and co-operation of which we hope to maintain in our country high rates of vaccination coverage, avoiding adverse events such as the reappearance of epidemics from forgotten, due to vaccines, diseases".

He also stressed that the participation in today's workshop of speakers from these disciplines demonstrates the collective effort and joint undertaking of action and responsibility that we submit, for the promotion of this greatest weapon provided by scientific knowledge.

The workshop was organized with the support of the Health Insurance Organization, the Pancyprian Association of Nurses and Midwives, the Cyprus Association of Pharmaceutical Companies and the Cyprus Federation of Patients' Associations.
