2,759 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS - Week to 13 October

Two deaths from coronavirus were recorded in the last week in Cyprus, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health. At the same time, 2,759 new cases were identified with the positivity rate amounting to 4.15%.

They concern:

  • Woman, aged 89, who passed away on 8/10/2022
  • Man, aged 84, who passed away on 11/10/2022

Total number of deaths with COVID-19 as the ultimate cause: 1,189.

53 COVID-19 patients are being treated in SHSO hospitals

  • in serious condition (ICU: 0 off ventilator/3 intubated, MAF: 4)
  • patients who ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized by intubation due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 66,500 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 2,759 new cases were detected (total cases 593,542).
  • Positivity rate in all tests 4.15%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 2,207 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 184 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 8.34%

Total number of Rapid Antigen Tests:

  • 64,293 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 2,575 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 4.01%

Private initiative:

  • 1,863 molecular tests were performed, 122 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 6.55%)
  • 43,972 rapid antigen tests were performed, 2,450 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 5.57%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 20,321 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 125 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 10,181 rapid detection tests identified 77 positive cases (positivity rate 0.76%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 169 rapid detection tests, positive case was identified (positivity rate 0.59%)
  • Secondary Education: 2.303 rapid detection tests identified 4 positive cases (positivity rate 0.17%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 4,168 rapid antigen tests were performed, 20 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.48%)
  • Closed facilities: 3,500 rapid antigen tests were performed, 23 new cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.66%).
