In the context of efforts to strengthen the immunity of groups of the population that are most vulnerable to serious illness, the Ministry of Health informs that after the decision of the Council of Ministers, dated September 14, 2022, as of Tuesday, September 20, 2022, the age limit of people who may receive the booster 3rd and 4th dose of updated vaccines against COVID-19 is reduced.
Beneficiaries will be able to be served through the walk-in vaccination centres operating in all districts, from Monday to Friday, from 08:00 a.m. – 14:30 p.m.
Specifically:
a) The booster/3rd dose will be administered to people 12 years of age or older, provided that the period of five (5) months has elapsed since the 2nd dose was taken.
- Receiving the booster/3rd dose of vaccine is optional.
b) The booster/4th dose for the better service of the public and to avoid any inconvenience will start to be administered from September 20, 2022, to people 50 years and older.
c) Also, the booster/4th dose from September 20, 2022, will be administered:
-to people who live or work in nursing homes and closed structures regardless of age,-health professionals regardless of age,
-in pregnant women regardless of age,
to persons over 12 years of age with:
-diabetes mellitus,
-severe obesity: BMI ≥40 or ≥35 with metabolic syndrome,
-severe chronic cardiac and vascular disease,
-chronic severe kidney disease,
-severe chronic liver disease,
-severe chronic neurological disease,
-haemoglobinopathies,
-in immunodeficiency and immunocompromised patients such as:
-in active therapy for solid tumours and haematological malignancies,
-with a history of transplantation of solid organs receiving immunosuppressive therapy,
-with a history of transplantation of primordial hematopoietic organs receiving immunosuppressive therapy,
-with hereditary immunodeficiency,
-with HIV Infection/AIDS,
-immunosuppressive therapy including biological agents,
-with renal failure undergoing haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis,
-regarding the intake of cortisone refers to people who have received or are taking a total dose of ›10 mg of prednisone / day (= 8 mg of methylprednisolone) for one (1) month in the last six months,
provided that the period of five (5) months has elapsed since the receipt of the booster/3rd dose.
- Receiving the booster/4th dose of vaccine is optional.
In order to carry out vaccination, an identification document (identity card, passport) and a vaccination card must be presented.
Immunodeficiencies and immunocompromised patients may come to the free access vaccination centres (walk in) by presenting a medical certificate from a Staff or a Specialist Doctor.
