Another organized and extensive operation by Paphos Police Department to check drivers was carried out on Friday night. The Police Director, Nikos Tsappis, told "F" that during the checks of members of various departments of the Directorate, a quantity of 28 grams of cannabis was found in the possession of a person. The suspect had been intercepted while driving for inspection and then a search was also carried out at his premises in which the drugs were found.
According to the Paphos Police Director, on the same evening there were dozens of complaints from drivers who were spotted driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, as well as complaints about other traffic violations.
The controls, Nikos Tsappis stressed, will continue in the coming period at an unabated pace, in order to establish a climate of law and security among citizens and to give the message to those who try to act outside the framework of the law that this will not be as easy as they consider.
