MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, in the period 9/5/2022 – 31/10/2022, excluding weekends, work will be carried out to install emergency doors on the central island of the highway from Alhambra to Germasogeia at twenty (20) points. During the works, the right traffic lanes to Limassol and to Nicosia will be closed in sections of 100m. approximately at each point and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lanes. On the highway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelias roundabout, in the period 8/8/2022 – 8/9/2022, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:30, every day from Monday to Friday, excluding weekends and public holidays, there will be irrigation works on slopes (including triangles) by Forest Department. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the triangles of the Rizoelias roundabout will be partially closed for a length of 50m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

On the Larnaca-Kofinou highway, in the period 8/8/2022 – 8/9/2022, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:30, daily from Monday to Thursday, pruning operations will be carried out on the central islet by the Department of Forestry. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed from both directions for a length of 1500m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Also on the Kofinou-Larnaka highway, in the period 1/9/2022 – 2/9/2022, from 07:00 a.m. until 15:00, periodic road maintenance works will be carried out on the section of the highway from the Kalos Chorio roundabout to the light-controlled junction, approximately 500m long. During the works, both lanes of traffic in the direction of Kofinos - Larnaca will be closed and traffic will be diverted to the secondary roads using appropriate signage. On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, on the central islet at a point 1000m. approximately after entering from Governor's Beach from Nicosia to Limassol, from Monday 29/8/2022 until Thursday 1/9/2022, from 18:00 in the afternoon until 06:00 in the morning of the following day, emergency exit installation work is underway. During the works, the express lanes to Limassol and to Nicosia will be closed in sections of 200m. approx. and traffic will move in the adjacent slow traffic lanes. On the highways in the province of Larnaca, in the period 29/8/2022 – 8/9/2022, every day Monday to Thursday, between the hours 08:30 – 16:00, watering works of the plants of the central islands will be carried out by the Department of Forestry as follows: (a) On the Larnaca Airport - Ayia Napa and Larnaca - Nicosia highways, from Nicosia to the Rizoelia roundabout and then to the airport roundabout, heading towards Larnaca Airport and at the same time. (b) On the Larnaca Airport - Ayia Napa highway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the Xylotymbou exit, in the direction of Ayia Napa. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed, for a length of 1500m. approximately each time, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. On the Limassol-Paphos highway, section after the Erimi exit, 450m long. approx., as well as part of the exit from the highway to Kolossi/ Erimi, 200m long, in the direction of Limassol, will operate without ramps, due to works for the construction of the new road network in the area of ​​the New Stadium of Limassol. The works will be carried out in the period 30/8/2022 – 07/12/2022, on weekdays and Saturdays, between the hours 07:00 – 15:00. In Limassol, the entrance to the Nicosia-Limassol highway, towards the area of ​​Agia Fylaxeos, is closed, due to works being carried out on Domnitsas Lanitou Kavounidou Street (near the Church of Agios Arsenios), in Agia Phyla, by the Limassol-Amathusunas Sewerage Board (SALA) . The work is expected to be completed by Saturday, September 3. The public is invited to comply with the temporary road markings. On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, sweeping works will be carried out on sections of the highway and the Limassol Bypass Road, from the Muttayakas exit to the uneven junction of the New Limassol Hospital, from Friday, 2/9/2022 to Sunday, 4/9/ 2022, between the hours of 09:00 – 16:00. During the works the following will be applied: I. The right traffic lane of the highway/bypass road will be partially closed for a length of 200m. approximately in one direction only at all times and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. II. The one traffic lane of the connecting roads of the roundabout junctions, will be partially closed in a length of 100m. approximately one way only, at all times and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon the following day, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Phase AI perimeter highway, the traffic on the highway that is carried out in 4 traffic lanes on the east side will be shifted to the west side of the existing highway. The traffic of the existing highway from Limassol to Nicosia and vice versa will be carried out in 2 traffic lanes instead of 3 in a length of 2 km. approximately on the west side of the existing highway. The traffic from the exit of the industrial area of ​​Idalio to the Tseri bypass will be uninterrupted, while the traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia via the highway will not be conducted. Traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the JCC light-controlled junction. Traffic from the highway heading towards Limassol to the Idali industrial area will be conducted through the new exit constructed as part of the Perimeter Project, while traffic from the Idali industrial area to the existing highway heading towards Limassol will be uninterrupted. During the works, traffic on the highway from Nicosia to Limassol and vice versa will be conducted in one lane. The traffic from the Tseri bypass to the existing highway in the direction of Nicosia and from the industrial area of ​​Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will not be carried out at the specified times. It is noted that traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the light-controlled junction near the JCC. The traffic from the industrial area of ​​Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will be conducted from the entrance of Kotsiatis. It is noted that the above arrangement will last for a period of approximately 5 months. The public can be informed about the above planned works, through the website www.traffic4cyprus.org.cy, which provides a cartographic representation of the works and their effects on traffic during their execution. Also on the Nicosia-Limassol highway, from Monday, 5/9/2022 until Thursday, 8/9/2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the next day, door installation works will be carried out emergency on the central island of the highway, for a distance of 1000m. approximately before the exit to Akti Kyverniti, from Nicosia to Limassol. During the execution of the works, the right traffic lanes to Limassol and to Nicosia will be closed, in sections 200m long. approximately and the traffic will be in the adjacent left lanes. On the Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia highway, from Monday, 5/9/2022 to Thursday, 15/9/2022 (excluding Friday, Saturday and Sunday), from 8:00 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following day day, maintenance work will be carried out on the asphalt pavement on sections of the highway from the exit to Mammari to the Nicosia Mall in the direction of Nicosia. During the works, parts of the motorway towards Nicosia will be closed and vehicle traffic will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, turning it into a two-way traffic. In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometres. It also includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiaulis, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of ​​approximately 600 metres, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools. The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related work. Depending on each phase of the works, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the works to be performed as well as the corresponding traffic regulations. In the district of Nicosia, specifically in Deutera, on Griva Digeni Avenue, Anthoupoli – Palechorio road, from Friday, May 27, 2022 and for a period of five (5) months, construction work will be carried out on a roundabout at its junction with Agia Marina Street. During the works, traffic from Anthoupoli to Palaichori and vice versa will be diverted through a temporary bypass road of approximately 300m length. The junction of Griva Digeni Avenue with Agia Marina Street will be closed and drivers from Palaichori to Deutera are urged to use the previous exit towards Anagyia – Pano Deutera. In Aglantzia, on Athalassa Avenue, from the junction with Eleftheriou Venizelou Street to the roundabout on Kyrenia Avenue, and on the Aglantzia - Geri road past the Athalassa Park, from Monday 29/8/2022 until Thursday 1/9/ 2022, from 8:00 in the evening until 6:00 in the morning of the following day, road surface repair work will be carried out. During the works, parts of the affected roads will be closed for a length of 1000m. approximately and the traffic will be through adjacent passages. In Germasogeia, construction work on the Germasogeia bypass road continues as normal. From Sunday, August 7, 2022, the construction work of the next phase of the Project will be carried out, which will last 6 months and includes, among other things, the reconstruction/upgrading of a 400m long section of the road on Agia Paraskevi Street. up to the southern part of the Germasogeia roundabout, the reconstruction of Mylou Street and the construction of a roundabout at the junction of the new Mikis Theodorakis Avenue with Agia Paraskevi and Milos Streets. During the construction work of this phase the following traffic arrangements will apply: (a) The junction of Agia Paraskevi and Mylos Streets will be closed and the section of Agia Paraskevi Street south of Tellyrias Street will temporarily operate as a cul-de-sac. Traffic from/to Germasogeia and from/to Limassol will take place via the new bypass road and its connections with Agia Paraskevi street from Isabella, Patron and Tellyria streets. The access of Agia Paraskevi street towards Limassol is expected to be handed over to traffic around the end of October 2022. (b) Mylou Street will be closed and its eastern section, from its junction with Potamias Street, will temporarily function as a dead-end street to serve merchants and residents. (c) Traffic from/to Muttayaka will be able to be done via Potamias Street (east) or via the new bypass road and Agios Georgios Street. In Limassol, the works at the Limassol-Amathous Drainage Board, on the eastern lanes of Nikou Pattichi Street, despite its junction with Christofi Ergatoudi Street, have been completed according to schedule and traffic from the Troodos roundabout to the city centre has been restored. From Monday, August 29, until Monday, September 12, work will be carried out on the westbound lanes of Nikou Pattichi Street, despite its junction with Walter Disney Street, near the Troodos roundabout. Vehicle traffic from the city centre to the Troodos roundabout will be diverted to the eastern lanes, which will operate in two-way traffic. On Navarinou Street, in Limassol, from its junction from the roundabout of Eleftherias Street to the traffic lights of Irini Street, also within the framework of the Great Flood Protection Project of the Center of Limassol, from Thursday June 30, rainwater drainage works will be carried out . The work is expected to be completed by Monday, September 5. In the district of Limassol, on the Episkopi - Mandrio road, in the period 25/8/2022 - 3/9/2022, except Sundays, from 07:00 to 17:00, road surface maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a length of 100m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Traffic will be managed with the “STOP & GO” system. Also in the province of Limassol, on the Avdimos-Pachnas road, in the period 26/8/2022 – 2/9/2022, except Sundays, between the hours of 07:00 – 17:00, road surface maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a length of 100m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane and traffic will be managed with the “STOP & GO” system. In Paphos, in the Geroskipou area, from Tuesday, April 5, 2022, until Monday, March 6, 2023, the connecting road B6 - A6 (Limassol - Paphos), will be closed for traffic, due to roundabout construction works on Kinyra Street in Geroskipou. During the works drivers and pedestrians will be able to use a temporary detour that has been constructed for this purpose. In the province of Famagusta, on the road Frenas-Vrysoulles, in the period 29/8/2022 – 16/9/2022, part of the road within the Community of Frenaros, will remain closed to traffic due to road works. During the works, traffic will be diverted through adjacent roads. In Larnaca, on Friday 2/9/2022 and Monday 5/9/2022, between the hours 07:00 – 15:00, local repair work will be carried out on the bituminous pavement in the section of Kyriakou Matsis Avenue, from the roundabout in front of the Nea Salamina stadium to the roundabout of Australia Avenue, in Aradippou. During the works, traffic will be diverted to secondary roads using appropriate signage. On the old Paphos-Limassol road, from the period 7/2/2022 – 7/9/2022 (for 7 months), at the junction of Ippokratous Street with the old Paphos-Limassol road (Makariou Avenue 3), in the Municipality of Geroskipou , road improvement works will be carried out by the Paphos Public Works Department. During the works, the roads will remain open and traffic to/from Geroskipou will operate according to the temporary road markings. On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, in the period 29/8/2022 – 5/12/2022, from 07:00 a.m. until 15:00, every day except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, construction work will be carried out on the slope of the road in the Kofinou area and for a length of approximately 1500m. During the works, one traffic lane of the old Nicosia - Limassol road will be partially closed for a length of 100m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane, using STOP & GO signage. On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, in the period 30/8/2022 – 3/9/2022, except Sundays, between the hours of 07:00 – 17:00, in a part of it between Monagrouli and Pareklisia, road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a length of 100m. approximately and the traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane and traffic will be managed with the "STOP & GO" system. On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, the eastern road that connects the road to the port of Vassilikos will be closed to traffic during the period 23/4/2022 – 23/10/2022, as part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vassilikos Energy Center. During the works, all traffic to and from Vasiliko will be diverted to the corresponding west road, through the Community of Mari. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians, on adjacent roads and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.
