COVID - 1,869 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH - week to 8/9

One death and 1,869 coronavirus cases were recorded in the last week in Cyprus, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health. At the same time, the positivity rate is 2.76%.

Specifically:

1 death announced

It concerns:

  • Woman, aged 92, who passed away on 5/9/2022
  • Total number of deaths with COVID-19 as the ultimate cause: 1,173.
  • 44 COVID-19 patients are being treated in SHSO hospitals
  • in serious condition (ICU: 1 off ventilator/1 intubated, MAF: 3)
  • patients who ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized by intubation due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 67,808 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 1,869 new cases were detected (total cases 579,899).
  • Positivity rate in all tests 2.76%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 2,406 molecular tests were performed
  • 148 positive cases were identified
  • Positivity rate 6.15%

Total number of Rapid Antigen Tests:

  • 65,402 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 1,721 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.63%

 Tracking:

  • molecular tests were performed and no positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0%)

Private initiative:

  • 2,042 molecular tests were performed, 105 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 5.14%)
  • 48,929 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,638 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.35%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 16,473 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 83 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 9,354 rapid detection tests identified 41 positive cases (positivity rate 0.44%)

Other

  • National Guard: 55 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 12.73%)
  • Care homes: 4,382 rapid antigen tests were performed, 24 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.55%)

Closed facilities: 2,682 rapid antigen tests were performed and 11 new cases were identified (positivity rate 0.41%).
