After two years, the final stage of implementation seems to be the entrance of the works near Petra tou Romiou, for the repair of the access road to the monument of nature.
The completion of the project was greatly delayed due to particular soil problems that arose during the execution of works, with the contractor having sent a letter to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, asking for at least five months extension, while the schedules due to the pandemic delayed the project further. The project was expected to be completed initially at the end of October 2021.
Regarding the peculiarity of the soil, due to the fact that the soil is like 'moving sand' in the expression of officials, required the company carrying out the project to place 71 columns, 20 meters high, in order to retain the soil.
The second phase of the project is now expected, which will cover the remaining part of the road, which ends up to Petra tou Romiou, in order to avoid additional delays in the total completion of the project.
