The National Guard on Friday completed an international joint exercise ‘Tams-Heracles’ in Egypt, it said.
In addition to the host country and Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Greece also participated with personnel and equipment, while the US, Jordan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Bahrain also participated with observers.
The purpose of the exercise, which took place at the Mohamed Naguib Military Base, was to provide realistic co-training and enhance the interoperability of forces participating in special operations.
The individual scenarios included operations in urban and open spaces, rapid reaction, provision of First Aid, rescue of hostages as well as paratrooper training on land and sea.
On Thursday, the Distinguished Visitors’ Day (DV-Day) took place, which was attended by the Deputy Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Chrysiliou as well as representatives from the other participating countries.
The exercise is part of the network of international collaborations that the National Guard has developed with the armed forces of friendly countries, promoting the level of interoperability while highlighting relations between the participating states, and contributing to the consolidation of cooperation and security in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
