Tourist arrivals in July 2022 amounted to 454,657 compared to 297,308 in July 2021, recording an increase of 52,9% according to data from the Statistical Service.
For the period January – July 2022, tourist arrivals amounted to 1,676,039 compared to 638,292 in the corresponding period of 2021, with 320,589 in the period January – July 2020, as well as with 2,181,994 arrivals during the period January – July 2019.
Country analysis
Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for July 2022, accounting for 38,2% (173,874) of total arrivals, arrivals from Israel 8,4% (38,269), arrivals from Poland 4,7% (21,285), arrivals from Germany 4,7% (21,280), arrivals from Sweden 4,3% (19,732) and arrivals from Greece 3,4% (15,450).
Purpose of travel
The purpose of travel in July 2022 was for 84,9% of tourists the holidays, for 12,2% the visit to friends or relatives and for a percentage of 2,8% business. Respectively, for July 2021, 85,0% visited Cyprus for holidays, 11,3% for visiting friends or relatives and 3,7% for business reasons.
