A wave of high temperatures with 40s and intense discomfort is in store from today and for the coming days the weather. The temperature is expected to rise by the weekend up to 3 degrees above normal levels.
As the director of the Department of Meteorology, Kleanthis Nikolaidis, explained to "F", this is the effects of the heatwave that affects central Europe and the Balkans. However, he underlined, Cyprus will not be affected to the same extent.
"The wave of high temperatures and humidity is expected to worsen in central Europe, causing very serious problems. These areas were expecting their first rains at this time."
However, Mr. Nikolaidis said, in Cyprus the effects will be limited, clarifying that this high pressure system will affect our country by raising the mercury a few degrees above normal. "Such systems are obsessed, that is, they remain in one area for days. It looks like it will last. It's not out of the question next week."
In the coming days, Mr Nikolaidis said, the weather will be clear. But locally, mainly in the mountains, it is not excluded that clouds occur.
